hey guys new to this forum... sold off my rock crawler to get a tt-01 and some hop ups, nsx body, orion 15d, 23/61, alloy center shaft, heatsink, metal motor mount, adjustable upper control arms, tie rod kit, traxxas tq2 radio setup, novak super rooster. i use it to drift around in the street, race a bunch of guys from chattanoogarc.com on thursday nights, and run it around the house on the hardwood floor. does anyone know the best way to get the slop out of the suspension, like the control arms especially?? this thing is really quick at changing its own camber, caster and toe in because of the slop in the control arms. and hubs. or is my only option of going to alum parts.

Some new parts i aslo got the red battery holder too. The paint job isnt that great because i rushed it and those rims are the stock ones...im waiting for my new rims with a greater offset to equal it out with the 200mm body. Also, ive got the 55T/58T spur set and the 20T/21T/22T/23T pinion set, i was wondering should i use the 55T spur or the 58T spuR? i was gonna use the 22T pinion, but any suggestions are welcome.

EDIT: im using a novak ss4300 system.

Before I changed by gearing to the 26/55 setup, I was running the 22/58 gearing. The accel was pretty good, but the top speed wasnt all that great.

BTW, nice car. Looks pretty flash with those anodized red billet parts.

Im buying a trinity d4 9X2 and mtronics no limit esc off a mate. Would the tt01 chassis be suitable for it? what modifications would I have to make apart from bearings?

You might end up shredding the gears with that motor.

Hello everyone! I just got me a TT-01, the 2004 Rabrig kit to be exact, and just finished reading through this forum. There's some good stuff here. One thing I heard over and over is how a beastly motor would shred the gears. This has me a little worried. From the beginning I installed a Feigao 540XL 6T Brushless (13.3 oz. HUGE motor) that I had laying around. I've been flying R/C for a few years and naturally had an airplane ESC that I coupled with the motor. It's functional but I would like something with dynamic braking and possibly reverse that isn't wickedly expensive. I can't seem to find any brushless ESCs even remotely cheap for cars! Anyhow, this combo makes the car very fast, but at about 1/3 throttle the flexing of the propeller shaft gets so bad that it vibrates against the surrounding plastic extremely loudly. I've got the aluminum one on order but I was wondering if anyone has experienced this amount of flex with their setups. Everything else seems solid but I've only driven it for about 20 minutes. I was also wondering why everyone says the stock tires are junk. I don't have any experience with this kind of cars and was wondering how much better they can get.

i have the raybrig kit too yes with a 15x2 orion motor in mine i had the driveshaft sounding like a 2step on a drag strip christmas tree. i have the metal one in my car and it is alot better. i could actually tell a difference in top speed and acceleration. once you get your alum shaft, that 2 pair of pliers and twist the shaft, mine actually twisted pretty bad. if you get the adjustable upper arms, you will need to fix the slop in the control arms. i actually fixed mine by putting pieces of a plastic bag(sandwich bag in my case). it did make the front end not want to droop when i had no shocks on the car but it handles the same to me. tires do make a big difference. i have a set of hpi X-pattern radials pro compound on mine with some hpi medium foams, and it handles so much better. about the shredding of gears. i shredded my stock 61 tooth gear with a robinson racing pinion. if you get different pinions get the tamiya ones. some reason a 19 tooth tamiya is about the same size as a robinson racing 21 or 22 tooth pinion yet the pitch is different that a 48p gear. i have yet to figure that one out, so i just bought the tamiya stuff. i have had a cobalt 2 7t in my car and did not shred a thing (wheel hexes dont count) when i had the motor set right.

ddlyspdr, thanks for the info! I just got the aluminum drive shaft today and that definitely fixed that flexing problem! This little car is very fun to drive. I had it going just over 37 MPH today and can't wait to get a new (Tamiya brand) pinion to see how much more I can get out of this thing. I also have some radials with foam on order and am anxious to see how they affect the handling. I feel like this kit is a great value and I take so much more ownership of it since I built it. Anyhow, I've got to go so I can start adding LED's to this thing.

Here are a few pictures after its first day of hard running. I think you'll notice my beefy Feigao, airplane ESC and 7 channel receiver just waiting for me to add ridiculous stuff to it!

Wholey crap that motors big..

Well with tires, with the stockers my turning circle with a stock motor was about a 30 foot diameter at full speed, now its about 10 feet with good tires at full speed with a 19t motor.

Yeah, my tires are just the stock slicks. They do OK in my opinion, but I've got nothing to compare them to seeing as how I'm new to this arena. I can't imagine doing a ten foot circle at full speed! That sounds incredible to me. What tires are you using, biGmik? Anyhow, I got my custom LED's hooked up and thought I'd show you guys the finished product.

Ermmmm well once you use real tires you will soon find out how crap (yes they are CRAP) stock tires are.

I use Take-Off rubber tires (I normally use 27 degree ones, but as its winter now in Australia my next set will be 22 degree tires) or I use foam tires. I like the foams the best, and for $15 you can get a full set of 4 foam tires!

Just dont except them to be great straight away. They need to be warm / hot to get good traction.

Also, if you turn at high speed they squeek like real 1/1 tires

I own a TB01, and from the pictures, the tt01 and tb01 look quite similar. I know the tb01 is an obsolete platform now, but how do you guys think the two cars stack up, performance-wise? The old TB is gettin pretty beat, and I might retire it in favor of a tt01 or maybe a tb02. I do things to this car that sould not be done to a sedan, so toughness is a priority.(love jumpin off stairs!)

The upper deck doesn't really improve handling, it only makes the car more regid, but I spose that improves handling slightly.

Exactly!
It reduces the chasis flex especially if you have intentions of putting in a more powerful motor it is key for this factor to stiffen things up to receive optimal bang for the buck when you go to upgrade your motor and gearing.
I'm strengthining everything so when the bigger motor goes in everything will be optimal.

Haha same you can't strengthen diffs or and of the drive train.

I spose you can get ball diffs and titanum CVD's.

This a TT01R, some it comes with the aluminium prop. shaft, aluminium prop. shaft cups, metal dogbones and cups, adjustable camber front and rear, and ofcourse adjustable toe standard, which saves money upgrading to all that stuff.
