lol cydog, I have read the entire thread, (which took me a very long time!) before I bought my TT01E kit.
Ah right, I read timing affects the performance/drain of the motor, I guess not everything you read is true
I'm going to let my 6 year old play with this so I reckon I'll get the 13T, and then later the 5.5 along with a nice shell and wheels for me.

*Edit* What's the best way to tune down your car then without changing the motor or batteries?

thanks woody, i appreciate that you did your research! most don't, that's why i put that out there.
6 year old? 13.5 FOR SURE! my 4yr old daughter drove my vintage tamiya opel shell and carbon ta02 into a wall at 50+km, with the 5.5, so i think you gopt the right idea, i only let her drive the lunchbox now!
there are a few ways to tone down the performance, punch setting to the lowest, etc. guess and test what works well for you. the timing may affect the battery drain, but i was not testing for that, so perhaps... but i doubt it, i think it's just a gimick, which is fun!
enjoy the TT-01, it's a great chassis for young ones as it is bullet proof(or kid proof)!

Good to know it's pretty solid Yeah I did some calculations and it should do about 18mph with the stock pinion and spur (19/61) which is nice, I think I'm gonna have to get some sushi drift tyres 'cos finding 50mm ABS pipe near me is turning out to be a nightmare!
If I get bored I might have to try 8 cells or 3s lipo and see if that's a bit more "grown up"

*Edit*

Just ordered myself a 13T EZRun and 2 x 2S 30C Mystery LiPos, along with an iMax B6 charger and some other bits and bobs, alloy shaft, bearings set etc.

HK all the way!! lol

Yes, the stock shaft will bend or warp when you use a hotter motor.

Just wanted to drop in to say hello.

I just joined this site after deciding to hop up my TT-01. I had the car since 2006, and ran it for fun up and down my street. Just this weekend, I noticed a huge discount for the complete Alu hop up set from RCMart (Yeah Racing brand) and just sprang for it. Then added two polycarbonate Gallardo bodies too, as the Ferrari is a bit scuffed up from use over the years.
Decided to turn it into a living room drifter, so I got a set of drift tires as well.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone can post a photo/link of a fully hopped up TT-01 chasis with all blue Alu parts. I remember seeing a photo here but can't seem to find it now.

The kit before assembly:

After assembly:

So guys i've settled on getting myself a 5.5T EZRun brushless motor combo for my TT-01
but i wanted to ask, does the programming card have a setting that would let me set a limit to the speed?
also when i get the solid axle, i should get 2 for the rear and front?

Haddi Taha has is right, as for the ezrun, there is no real way to tone it down, just gotta be easy on the throttle and set the punch and timing to the lowest setting.

tbh having the front axle also locked or not will depend on personal preference. If you can afford to get 2 solid axles and maybe put one in the spares pile should you like the front free then I'd get 2. Otherwise you could try it with just the rear solid axle and lock the front for a trial using another method.

I have been thinking about getting my diff switch to  lock position or getting the solid axle for racing and wanting faster acceleration for my tt01. What is better to go with? i have heard that the 1 way diff is not good for racing and that the lock diff and solid axle is for drifting. Can it be use to have crazy aceleration speed? I am really curious about those 2 parts.

Parts came in yesterday and I stayed up till 2am putting it on.
I had to fabricate my own tie rod as the steering turnbuckle from the kit was too short which resulted in too much toe-out.

Looks good! Are you going to put the graphite chassis on it?

Not sure. Does it flex more or less than the plastic tub chassis? I'd like to get the metal motor mounts and a better motor first.

Ok, i have a completely stock TT-01 and  a TA05 with an Xcelorin 7500Kv. after seeing the TA05 hit at least 50, I'm anxious to do some work for the TT01. I was hoping for drift tires, and a brushless. any comments? suggestions? And, I wanted to push it to 200mm, would I use +6 or +9 rims??????

Here's my TT01R setup for counter steer drift with a ratio of 1:8 made possible by active hobby gear set (1.5) plus a modified yokomo counter steer kit stage 2:
