the tt-01 is very unstable at top speeds i could say that the max motor you can use is 14turn.up from that you loose control very easily.i recenly test mine with a 6t brushless and the car goes like rocket!!!! uncontrolled like hell!!!

RE: Official Tamiya TT-01 Thread
Hi, I am new here.. finally made my way thru all those pages and decided to introduce myself.. my name is Phil and I am new to the Real RC Scene however i had play with Tomy mini cars before and have a collection of Jadatoys RC cars just for display and my dad has a wack load of Xmod cars and Tomy cars to.. my first RC when i was a child like 18 yrs ago was a 1/10 RC Jeep until some local bully kicked it and damaged the reciever in it... i wanted to replace it with the classic Tamiya Grasshopper kits but my allowance at the time couldnt cover it lol..... I decided to get a TT-01 when i bought one of the 1/10 scale Tyco RC Drift King cars at a local liquidator.. i found out quick that it was pure garbage.. i broke it doing powerslides in about 20mins lol.. i salavaged a few parts from it (1800mah nicad battery and wheel nuts with nylon sleeves) the rest went to the trash... now that I can afford many many different types of toys and since it was winter and my main project was parked (1985 AE86 Drift Machine) I decided to pick up a TT-01D (because of the value of the included hop ups), I picked up a HPI 190mm AE86 body and painted it the same color as my real AE86 :P... and much like my real cars, i like to take the "stockness" out of it :P
here is the list
TT-01D Chassis Included Hop Ups
Drift spec tires/rims (only gonna use them for the Subura body or spare drift rims/tires)
Adjustable Front and Rear upper arms
Adjustable non turnbuckle type Tie rods (no one ever mentions this.. stock TT-01 has solid tie rods)
CVA Oil filled Dampers with "red" soft short springs (shocks set with Yellow oil and 3 hole piston)
Aluminum Motor heatsink
Full ball bearings
GT Sport Tuned Motor
Added Hop ups
Aluminum Propeller shaft
HPI AE86 190mm Body painted Tamiya Metallic Red with custom Carbon fiber look hood
Custom body posts mounted on bumper to give "hood pin" effect.
HPI Volk Racing TE37 +6 offset rims
HPI Super Drift Tires
Tamiya Upper Carbon fiber support
Tamiya Front Stabilizer
Tamiya Rear Stabilzer
Adjustable Turnbuckle Tie rods (replaced stock ones because its easier to adjust)
Coming Soon
Tamiya Ball Diff set for front and rear
Tamiya Aluminum Racing Steering set
Tamiya Aluminum Steering Link
Tamiya Yellow and Blue spring sets
Tamiya Metal Motor Mount
Tamiya Clamp type Wheel hubs
Eventually but not neccessary
GPM Aluminum Battery tie down
Led kits with custom pop up head lights (saw this on youtube, sooo cool)
ABC Hobby Door mirrors
ABC Hobby Muffler kit
Anyhow.. let me know what you think!..
And on another note, for those that think the Carbon brace is useless, it is neccessary to have if you want the stabilizer kits.. there is an alternate position on the TT-01D kits to mount the stabilizers however you will need to purchase the aluminum stabilizer ends (part number 53644 http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/ite...oduct-id=53644)
