Yes you. I saw where you were selling one a few years ago lol say 2006...you said in the ad..you needed the money...yea right. In all seriousness, considering the fact your cars look nothing less than PRISTINE, if you were letting a roller go, toss a brother a shout. ANYTHING I get my hands on stays in my arsenal for like "EVER".

OHHH, those. Yes I did sell a couple of F1's a few years ago. I had an HPI Super F1 with a Rothmans Williams body and an F103 with a Rothmans Williams body. And you're right I did the money, I was tying to get my car fixed. Right now I'm not cutting loose with any. I wish I never sold those two. I really enjoy these cars and most are not replaceable, I hope you understand. If that changes for some reason, I'll let you know.

I took the F104 out for it's first real run last night at the new local rec center. The parking lot is massive and pavement relatively clean which makes for some good running. I was pleasantly surprised that the foams seemed to stick pretty well on the clean pavement. The road where I live on is a different story though. Feels like i'm driving on ice whenever i take it out for a test spin. I guess from all the dust, sand and tiny pebbles that're on travelled roads.
It's been a while since I've heard a brushed motor humming along at full speed. Actually sounded pretty cool, especially since i've been used to brushless sounds for the last while. I felt the car handled quite well......especially being only 2WD and such a long, narrow chassis. I was quite impressed. I just wish i had a local track to take it out on.[]

Cant blame a brother for trying . Because this is a totally new arena for me in R/C, I guess I tried to "cheap-ie" my way into it, not to mention buy from someone who keeps their cars in immaculate condition. That said, any take on this car (see attached). In eyeballing the area for a viable F1, I have yet to run across one that looks like this.

It was on Ebay...dude had it listed as an "F103 with many Tamiya hop-ups". Being new to this, I was cautious about bidding because it looks different than other F1's AND appears to be more Pan than F1. Had I gotten some responses sooner, I may have taken the plunge. At last look, it was at 49.95 in bidding. Closed now, dont know what it sold for.

I am considering purchasing a Tamiya F104Pro. I would use my Spektrum radio, with a sr3500 micro receiver... what are people using for steering servos and electronic speed controllers? I understand space is an issue.

I'm running the Nosram version of the LRP A.I. Quantum Runner Plus Reverse (it's tiny) and a KO Propo PDS-2512 low profile high torque digital servo. For the servo, space isn't really an issue. It is an issue for your receiver, esc, and motor wiring. Your SR3500 receiver will fit nicely.

The only thing I don't like about RC F1 style of cars is I've only seen one 1/10 F1 car with a suspension (And it has a really cool one at that). I don't know the exact name of it but it was 4WD and made by Tamiya and had a real F1 style of suspension. Last time i checked, they stopped making them and i cant find them anywhere. I was really interested in Hpi's new chassis but failed to find any sign of a true front suspension. And for me the true F1 suspension is something that i would want in a 1/10th version.
Oh and when i found a clip of that 4WD F1 car on youtube, even with a brushless set up it wasn't going really fast
I know it could be the driver or set up but most of the vids of seen of people running those cars I was kinda disappointed [&o]

That would be the F201 that you are referring too - the downside of the set-up is that it is 4WD which isn't obviously how things are in F1...

You know the F201 can easily be made into RWD. Although there is the added weight of the extra suspension and such.
I run one of my F201's in RWD mode, with the driveshaft and front diff/axles removed.
Cheers,
Skottoman

Dude, I am used to running a 3.5 in my Pro 4. I also was frowned at a number of races because every dude and his mother wanted to run 5 cell to "slow things down". I have watched a number of races Youtube and with stock silver cans geared right, those cars were scooting right along. In all honesty, with no drive in the front, exactly how fast are you looking to go? These cars are made for REAL driving and racing...from what I "guess-stimate", they look like they are moving at or around 35-40 mph..which is pretty gosh darn fast. Not to mention, they look like the real thing and require finesse and skill to race.

I was thinking that but it also comes down to finding a decent F201. RCmart use to sell them for $115 U.S. but I was stupid and procrastinated like hell. Didn't buy dirt cheap kit when i had the chance[:@]

Check Ebay... there is a Tuned Chassis on there and another complete chassis on there right now. As well as parts...

RE: 1/10 RC Formula 1 Cars...lets see'em
This is my opinion and isn’t worth anything to most people…including family. The only “scale realism the F201 has to offer is the suspension. But when it comes down to functionality it doesn’t perform all that great. It works decent, but there is a lot of slop in the linkage that has to be absorbed before the suspension begins working. I’ve built several and that’s one of my many complaints about that car.
Looking at the front end of the new F104 it gives a better appearance than its predecessor the F103, but maybe not as nice as the F201. That’s a matter of opinion. I think the overall function of the F104 is also better, when built properly. The F201 was always a flexi-flyer with all the plastic bits twisting in the corners. There are, or where, chassis upgrades available as after market parts to make the car more rigid. But the F104 offers a solid platform right out of the box.
If you’re intention is to try and race the car you might want to check with your local track/hobby shop to see if they even offer a class for it. If they lump you in with F103’s and 104’s you might get a little frustrated.
Just as an FYI, Tamiya still sells all the parts for the F201, but not a complete kit. As an option you could still build one from parts.
Not sure if any of this helps, hurts, or even matters but I thought I’d offer it up.
