Default Mamba Max with 4600kv or with 5700kv

I am using one of the two combos to run my TC3 that I have converted from NITRO to electric. I want the speed that is just as fast when I had NITRO. As of now I am using 12t brush motor with 6cell NIMH. But it is too slow for my liking. I want about 60 to 70 mph speed.

Oh, I will be running this new combo (Mamba Max with 4600kv or with 5700kv) with 3S Lipo. So please help me out. Thanks

using a 3S lipo you should go with the 4600kv........the 3S is generally too much for the 5700kv

4600kv with 3S should be pretty damn fast!

actually looking at castle's website they say you can use a 5700kv with 3S.......but you have to pay extra attention to gearing and heat.

I am leaning to 5700kv because I can always gear lower and use 2s Lipo whenever I want to. However if there is not much different in speed then I'll go with 4600KV.
On the other hand if I buy 4600KV and need more speed there isn't much options or is there?

OK help me out please. I using Nitro TC3 and have converted to Elitric. I am still using stock diffs as of now. The spur gear is 85teeth and pinion gear is 35teeth. How fast will I get if I go with 4600KV. Thanks for your help guys.

I did a calculation using units conversion. Trust me I know my math. With 4600kv my speed would be around 64mph and with 5700kv it would be 79mph. This calculation is using stock diff and stock wheels on a nitro TC3. Now I am worry about heat issues with 5700kv, but I love 79mph speed. decision decision and decision.

with 79mph I would smoke any nitro TC3. I mean electrocute any nitro TC3 as long as I don't overheat the motor.

the 35 tooth pinion would be way too big for either the 4600 or the 5700........and more so with 3S.

I'm just not experienced with the Castle motors..........maybe some others can help? I'm just pretty sure that doing 79mph on a 5700kv would fry it. I'm not sure how adjustable your pinion sizes are, but the higher the kv the smaller the pinion you want to use. Maybe you could get a lower kv motor than the 4600kv and feed it 14.8 volts or something??

I can not go lower than 35teeth on my pinion without more drilling. I also have 85teeth spur gears. It is also kind of big and I hope it helps balance 35t on my pinion. For sure now I am not going with 5700kv. If I can get 60mph I am happy.

As of now I have a brushed motor with 12turns that I have used with 6cell. It is doing like 35mph. That is too slow to keep up with a two speed Nitro TC3. However the motor run very hot. Is that mean 4600kv with 3s will run even hotter? If that is the case it is a no no for me to spend $220 on a new brushlessed set up.

I think pretty much any 540 sized motor will be overgeared with that setup and thus will run too hot. The pinion needs to be in around the 15-25t range.

In this case what do I do the get around 60mph? What motor do I get?

here's my set up, all the speed you could ever want..

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_76...tm.htm#8707345

cc says the 7700kv can't take the 3s, but i was told that if you break in the 7700k on 2s
it should handle it. your looking at a set up capable of hitting 70mph to 120+mph! [X(]

Thanks for the link. I love your set up and speed.

I got Mamba Max with 5700kv. My gearing is 25t and 85T. I calculated the speed and it showed about 60MPH. That is all I want for now and it is enough to take my friedn Nitro TC3. The motor is a bit hot now, but if I burn it then I'll get a new one. No big deal. You have to pay to play.
