ok, i might have figured something out but won't know till tomorrow when i can test it out again. i forgot that i have to recalibrate the VXL-3S for the new radio - i severely misplaced the the traxxas controller from the rustler so i bought the HK310 system.

still doesn't go in reverse, but initial throttle response is much smoother.

well, calibrating made it worse. now it goes into low voltage mode even in training mode. heading to the hobby shop in the morning.

got it sorted out. turns out the LVP kicks in around 3.8v on the vxl-3s, i bought an LVA and disabled it. Now it's fine, fast as crap too with the 3S.
