Default HPI RS4 series 1

I have been away from the sport for SEVERAL years it seems technology has left me a bit behind. Iam looking to revive/ replace the comonents in my RS4 to get it up and running for self amusement. It currently has a Dynamite Power pulse ESC and a speed gem machine wound modified motor (the kind that uses brushes) The remote is a futaba Magnum Sport Circa 1990's. I Also have a Novak duster ESC in my box of old parts. The Battery Iam almost sure is long dead is a Trinity VIS pack with Sanyo Bc-2000 cells the pack reads 0 I havent tested individual cells yet. I will be adding to my collection a Turningy Accucel-6 battery charger. This is mostly to charge my Flashlight batteries ( I am a flashlightaholic [I modify flashlights extensively]) of wich Ihave Sanyo Eneloops and a few unprotected 18650 cells from a laptop. Now to my question what do I need to get this beast up and running again. Are the newer NIMH batteries compatible with the old style ESC's what would be the best combination for good run times and speed. The car already has a 2 speed tranny and used to outrun my RC10GT (which is next on the list to be revived). Thanks for the help

Edit: Typo

If the motor, ESC, and radio you already have still work, use them. Find yourself a decent nimh pack and you should be set. Nimhs will work just fine with the setup you have. These guys sell good batteries at a competitive price: [link=http://www.promatchracing.com/products.php?cat=6]Pro-Match[/link]

Thanks for the update. I will be ordering a battery when I order the charger. Thankfully it will be running for allot less then I thought. The Gas truck will be about 200 but will be bullet proof with a new .18 OS engine, all new RRP metal gears, New screw kit, new motor mounts (for the pull start). Might be cheaper to buy a new one lol
