I have no idea what's going on with my pictures tonight but RCU is not scaling them down to thumbnails like it normally does?? I'm trying to shrink it down best I can sorry if you need to scroll to see them. [:@]
Must be an issue with RCU, as mine was doing the same thing a couple weeks ago.

I'm done for today couldn't really get as far as I wanted but I made some progress. I wish Tamiya would just include hex screws in all their kits and not just the high end stuff. It makes life so much easier!
LOL i had to get out my Dremel to remove one of my screws when I was building. Philips screws and CF do not mix. When you overtighten one into CF and need to remove it, GOOD LUCK!!

Willy did they not include hex screws with your EVO V? I am using the titanium screws which are hex but the stainless steel screws that came with the kit are also hex. I was just commenting that it is so much easier to use them and I wish Tamiya would just include it with all kits. [sm=wink_smile.gif]

Yeah I find tamiya kits are getting hex sometimes, philips other. My F104 pro was all nice hex hardware, but the Ferrari F60 had all philips. Maybe its more expensive for hex hardware.

Anyway, nice car and looking forward ot the finished product!

When I was building my DB-01 I had lots of problems because of the kit screws. More than 5 of them stripped on me.

Your right Casper, just had a look and mine did come with hexes. LOL all i remembered from the build was stripping a screw and screaming a few choice words.

i hate hex hardware, it rounds 10x easier than Philips heads, i think the hex is just a poor design in general really, need to invent the non rounding tri-head..

what i do is tap the hole with a SS screw first and then bosh a titanium screw in, just to thwart any chance of rounding.

Thanks LB it is a very nice kit. I am so bummed out though I didn't even get a chance to touch it today. I was hoping to have it at least half way built by now. [sm=cry_smile.gif]

LOL I had the same issue before I had to bust out the dremel and use a flat head to remove the screw. Not fun at all!

I remembered to take some comparison photos this time. The front light weight propeller joint and Hop-Up propeller shaft take away some extra weight helping to reduce rotating mass. You can see that the stock propeller shaft is also thicker.

Step 9 installed propeller shaft. As you can see I messed up when I ordered my Hop-Up parts I forgot to order two center cups so now one is stock. [:@] I'll order another one but for the sake of keeping the build going I'll leave it alone for now. It annoy's me to no end to see it there though. [:'(]

Also in step 9 and 5 they called for the use of rubber cement to hold in the screw for the bevel pinion gear. I didn't have any so I used Tamiya blue thread lock. [&:]

As small as that space is I have a SMC LiPo battery that fits. I hardly use this battery because it only has a 22C rating. I need to order a set of Velcro battery straps so I can get my higher C rated batteries to fit and possibly my 3s LiPo!

That was the first thing that went on my Evo was the battery tray. Was obviously designed for nimhs or lipos with the rounded corners, so i ditched it and got me some straps

I skipped a few steps in the manual because I am waiting for my servo and RX to show up. I still haven't decided on a motor either I think I may just use one of the BL setups I have in my stash. What would you use a MM 5700kV, 6900kV combo or Novak 8.5 Ballistic? I would really like to get my hands on the new Kinetic setup but they aren't available.

Steps 15 & 16 assemble and attach upper bulk heads and upper deck to chassis.
