Hi guys. Im new to this so im sorry if this is a daft question to ask. I have a TT-01 (Impreza 2003) with only 1 mod (aluminium prop shaft), and was wondering whether a 55T spurr would be ok with a 23T pinion? My worry is that this wud overcook the motor, maybe im safer with a 58T spur and a 23T pinion? any help would be much appreciated- K

And what is the 1 best upgrade you can get for this?

Thanks,

Depends on how you are geared. The first upgrade? Well, if you can only buy one...id get ball bearings. But, there is a LONG list of hop-ups for the tt-01.

Well i have about $275 to spend and i have already bought a rtr tt-01 new body, 4 wheels and 4 tires, the aluminum drive shaft, and deans. And im at like $240 so i have about $35 more to go.

Can you send me the tower links or part numbers to the the ball bearings i should get. And what ever else you think would make a big difference.

Thanks,
-Matt

I would aslo recommend the metal motor mount http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXFSE7&P=Z

Ball bearings http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXBUA9&P=Z

For handling and stability there is the carbon upper brace, sway bars, adjustable upper arms, etc. Ive got all that on my tt-01 and it rides pretty well. If you want the links to those items too than just let me know.

If you use the stock plastic mount, it will eventually break(crack). Especially if you are running a high end mod motor.

JDM drifter: ouch....thats a big hole on the pockets and alot of money to spend on a tt-01, but to each his own. I did not see a metal motor mount on your list or maybe im blind. Also, you should have never bought the aluminum arms if you plan on using sway bars or want the extra adjust ability.

They keep breaking? WoW. Thats the first breaking complaint ive heard from a TT-01, they are built very TOUGH. You must be drifting pretty crazy!

Tough? I would say decent.. I mean all of the chassis parts are made out of plastic. One hard bump in the road leads to a snaped upright. Happened to me twice. It's not that I don't know how to drift but it's that the tt-01 goes through a lot of stress and wear. Watch [link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njIrcSwhzLw]my drifting video[/link].

Exactly! So, i really dont understand how hes broken arms or anything for that matter. I bash my tt-01 like crazy and have hit curbs,walls,fence,cars,etc....and have never broken a single part.

Nah I broke mine a few times... A couple of a-arms, but what do you expect hitting steel posts with a 10t full speed [>:]

RE: Official Tamiya TT-01 Thread

I owned TA-04, TL-01, and TT-01. They all had problems somehow. I'm not saying I hate Tamiya because I AM a solid Tamiya fan. I'm just trying to prove that they can break. Common sense.. PLASTIC=Lightweight and thin.. The parts can break and/or bend under serious pressure. My friend was driving my tt-01 and hit a concreate lampost while drifting at full speed sideways and broke my upper left upright and snaped the pin in my arm. Also my rear arms snapped at a drift meet. Therefore aluminum parts is the way to go. I know you may be happy with your plastic parts BUT I HAVE MONEY so i'm getting aluminum.
