Default Beware-Real Flight 5.5 Upgrade Crashed My Computer

The latest Real Flight 5.5 upgrade hosed my computer today. PC with Real flight was working fine until I did the upgrade, has anyone else had this problem? Now the PC will not even boot, just after the upgrade it starting turning on and off on it's own. PCis only 2 months old and is latest and greatest configuration: Windows 7, 3.4 GHZ 16GBmemery, 2TBHD etc. Any ideas for a fix appreciated. I'll try to do a Restore if I can ever get it to boot up again.

Thank you.

I don't use any flight sim at this time but doubt that the sim upgrade has anything to do with it unless you got the upgrade from a web site other than real flight.
Try booting in "SAFE" Mode. If you can get to safe mode you can temporaly un-install the up grade or the whole sim program and then see if the computer will start normally. BUT, first I would suggest you goto the microsoft web site and download "Microsoft Essentials" and run that to see if you have been infected by a virus. Another tool is Mal-wear bytes and Ad-Aware. If you find a bug you can remove it with these tools. Then do a defrag on the system. Just doing a restore will not remove any virus or th's from the system.

Naaww . I have 5.5 with all of the very latest upgrades, and it's rock solid. You probably picked up a virus watching porn.

Now that was uncalled for ED. This forum is for serious RCers !

I had the latest RF 5.5 and have an issue with the launcher but everything else works fine.

Well my 64 bit Win7 computer with the RealFlight installed on it isn't quite as hot a machine as yours, but I installed the RealFlight 5.0 which I bought just before the release of the 5.5 and did the online upgrade to the version 5.5 without a hitch and it runs fine.

Suspect you have other issues but my first action would be to call the KnifeEdge guys and see what suggestions they may have, try booting into the safe mode as suggested and remove the software or other than that IIRC, the Win7 install disc will offer you an option to repair an install if you boot it up?

If you cannot even boot into the safe mode, then it kind of looks to me like you've got a corrupted boot sector on your HD but it's been a long time since I really played with my computers unless I absolutely have to....
