I haven't seen any reference to this elsewhere, but I noticed that Tower is showing "Early October" for the next Realflight add-on! One interesting note is that this add-on will ONLY work with G2. Check-out the details here:

Glad to see volume 5 is up and coming...
My problem is that I haven't been able to run volumes 2 through 4 because I only have a phone line modem hookup and although I've tried to update the software version I continually get update errors...so now I cannot run the program at all...
Anyone else have this problem...if so how'd you solve it? Has anyone gotten the update on a CD-ROM, as I'd gladly pay to get it.

From the note quoted below:
NOTE: Helicopter option will only be available when Add-Ons Volume
5 is used with RealFlight Deluxe and RealFlight G2 software.
It looks like it will work with the older version as well.

I agree completely, Carl! I don't think that the Venus would be such a big deal to add (and maybe even a 2M pattern-plane... hey, how about a 2M Venus for real!!), but I'm sure that it would take a *lot* of work to add either the 40 or 60-sized UCD. Maybe they are saving the 3D stuff for the next version of Realflight (G3?).

Same here. I can't wait to see a true 3d aircraft on real flight.
I tried to make mods to the existing planes but it's just not the same

I understand that they will be updating the graphics image to make the planes look more realistic. Will this upgrade improve the existing planes and graphics?

You probably saw the latest "Super Saver News" from Tower. It says "Image resolution is higher than on any previous volume, making even minute details (like rivet heads) easier to appreciate. The number of polygons used in modeling has been increased as well, ..."
Ok, an increase in polys is fine, but RIVET HEADS? I don't know about you guys, but I can barely make-out the COLOR SCHEME on the planes in G2 when I am flying. Does anybody really care that there are rivets on the plane? I love G2, but if this is the direction they are heading...

I guess after you have done all the possible math that you can do, the only thing that is left is the aesthetics.

my initial reaction is *yawn*. not a whole lot there to make me want to run out and buy it. i find the greatest reason for buying the upgrades is so you can use more of the plane downloads that people have created. i wonder why they haven't included more 3D planes or a float plane or something like that. the harrier in the fourth one was a nice gimmick was but i'd like more options for something that i might end up flying in real life.

Well, I've had a GP Lancair sitting in my living room still in the box for over a month now. Now that it's available in the sim, I'll have to build it to see how it compares.
What do you mean they don't have 3D planes? Isn't an Edge or a Cap considered a 3D plane?
I guess you can put down the Osprey as another gimmick plane. That and the Harrier would be way cool to see as an RC model, but it would be next to impossible to design all that roation stuff in a small model and have it be reliable enough to fly more than once. Can you image how much one of those would cost?

What I would enjoy:
1.) more engine choices and more engine sounds.
2.) inport field images (lots of work for the programmer)
3.) more images for creating and/or mofifying a flying site
4.)realistic weather ( a 5 mph wind seems like 50, it pushes the model off the runway when the engine is killed)
5.) fix or make possible some of the current flying site graphic options (clouds and color options)
All in all I enjoy RF
