I'm looking for a cheap sim that runs well on a laptop Sony Vaio with XP and mt research has brought me to one conclusion Aerofly Pro! I want to practice 3D manuveres when its to wet or windy to fly (99% of the time i live in England and its winter!)What 3D planes come on the sim and how will it run on my laptop. I have no idea when it comes to Computers but im a bit causious because Realfight G2 wouldn't work on my latop somthing about directx and i really dont want to buy the sim to find it doesn't work any way any fed back will be great as i want to get it and start practicing torque rolls and blenders!!!

i love my afp sim but it won't run on any of my 2 laptops with xp. it has issuses with seeing the transmitter. i know of a lot of people with this prob, if you search on this forum you will see what i mean. it was only a few weeks ago i posted about it.
luckily i didn't buy it to run on my laptops but it would be nice if it did. anyway, if it works for you and some laptops it does work on then STL PILOTS new yak he has offered for download, see a few posts down for that. the yak is THE BEST 3d i've flown and i have the add on. second is the chip hyde STL also offers. 3rd best is the extra on the add on disk.
it is far better than g2 and you won't regret buying it. try to see if it's possible to get a loan of AFP from a fellow club memeber or whatever and see if it works on your laptop. if thats not possible then you might be buying something that won't work.
sorry if i've put you off slightly but i wouldn't like you to be out of pocket.
cheers

Go to http://www.aerofly.de/ and have a look under "requirements" to see if your computer has what it takes. Graphic cards on laptops can be a pain in the...
I bought AFP with the interface cable for my stationary computer running Windows XP and have had no problems. The Tx used is an old JR 388s.
I really like this simulator but was a little dissapointed with the selection of aircraft included. There is a good selection of big aeroplanes but very little in the .40 - .90 size (perhaps they are included in the expansion pack ?!)

i have an advent 2.66 p4
the other is a tiny 1.2 athlon.
both the laptops are more than capable spec wise of running AFP. it's not that thats the problem
i'm in the process of ordering an acer ferrari so when i get it i'll let you know if the sim works on that one. again it has a massive spec with a dedicated 128mb radeon card. awesome laptop
cheers

Red B. just like G2 you need to get the expansion pack to be able to download the shared aircraft off the net. Or at least a lot of them. The expansion pack comes with bunch of planes as seen on www.aeroflypro.com at the bottom. I am up to 147 aircraft now in my arsenal.

Can you give me an example (URL) of a downloadable aircraft that doesn't work without the expansion pack?
It would be interesting to know if this is a real issue or marketing hype only.
According to another thread in this group, only new aircraft and sceneries are included in the expansion pack. Supposedly there are no changes to the simulator software other than those included in the patch available from the manufacturer web site [link=http://www.aerofly.de/]http://www.aerofly.de/[/link].
I have tried downloading several aircraft from www.rc-sim.de and they all worked with my version of AFP (witout the expansion pack).

I have read in some of the instructions in some of the aircraft that I have downloaded that you need to have the expansion pack installed to use the plane.
I will try to look through them. Maybe, I guess, some of them are modified and/or use some of the sounds and parameters from the expansion pack aircraft.
I am only trying to help. I don't even sell the expansion pack to offer, so I am not trying to sway you. Either way.
What plane do you want from the expansion pack? I will send it to you.

STLPilot!
I appreciate your help very much, and please accept my apologies if you felt offended by my previous posting!
It was not my intention to imply that you had done something wrong.
