i just tried plugging in an old mouse 9 pin i had laying around - but nothing has popped up yet... so i'll keep trying. btw - why would the com port go bad - this system isnt older than 8 months. The motherboard is an asus P4c800 deluxe. 9800 video card. Audigy 2 sound card.

OK. i plugged in the mouse - went to device manager in the control panel - went to the mouse part - hit update - and presto, the 9 pin mouse showed up.

Well there is something not right with your com port prolly. Do you have another computer to try the progam on to determine whether the cable is bad or not. You have to assign a certain IRQ to the comport, I'm just not sure which one it is?
Where did you purchase your AFP?

ok tried every combination - still nothing -
I was looking thru my motherboard manual and found i have another serial port - so i searched thru the graveyard of old computer junk and found the serial cable. Hooked it up - plugged in the mouse and it found it - plugged in the aerofly adapter and nothing........ When you plug yours in does windows detect it right away and give you an icon on the bottom? did i miss something?

windows does not detect the device. only the program dectects the device when you start the program. so don't expect windows to detect the device at all like a joystick or anything. it won't do that. also have you updated your patch? if not i have it on the homepage at www.aeroflypro.com
my 9 serial is using comport 1 - IRQ 4 - I/O Range 03F8/03FF
