What are your impressions with this version of FMS??

I particurlaly liked the way they enhanced the flight model, the plane flies much more realistically now. It's great!!! And the ground handling is perfect, come in a little to hard and bounce your way through the runway!!! I think it has reached a very good level of realism, may not be as perfect as the real thing, but is much more realistic than the earlier version and best off all it's free.

But, how do I mod the .par file in the new version to have more power on the engine and more deflection of the surfaces??? The official FMS forum seems to be down.......

There is no continuous thread here, only occasional posts; same with RC Groups. Yes the FMS forum has been down for several days, but when it's up again, there are many posts regarding Alpha 8.1, and most seeming to concentrate on the .par file and its "secrets". This is very interesting info, particularly the posts by GGunners and others, and the emerging discoveries about the .par will eventually allow the kind of tweaking we've all done with the .par file in Beta 7, and a lot more.

So far I've not dl'd Alpha 8.1 as I've got an enormous investment in both time and pleasure in Beta 7, but I'm adding another HD to my machine this weekend and then we'll see.

Wait for the forum to reappear and dig in to the - at least for now - mysterious Alpha 8.1.

I liked it,

The wind, gust is good, ground handling, bouncing is realistic, planes do flip if you don't apply elevator.

The simulated crashes are much more fun, hitting trees is good, I liked it a lot.

Much more realistic and fun.

The plane selection seems smaller, isn't it? I'd like a good 3D plane on the new version. If someone knows of a good 3D plane for 8.1, please let me know. Then I'm in!
