Default AFP Help (Frame rate to slow)

When running AFP, my Frames Per Second (FPS) is only 8 to 10. My computer is fairly new (AMD Athalon, 2.2 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce MX 440 with 64MB DDR video memory). Can my FPS be increased so that AFP will run right/smooth / Thanks. Bob

Balsabob, try using a scenery which is less taxing on the memory. Disable trees, clouds, etc. Also make sure that you don't have any other applications running in the background. Have you installed the latest 1.6.8.6 update ? Also, I find that older NVidia drivers work better sometimes. Good luck and enjoy !

Thanks Mike. But what do I have to do to get the FPS rate up with all the features ? Do I need a better/faster video card ? Thanks. Bob

A faster video card will definitely help but it's going to be expensive. IMHO, developing your flying skills is more important, and sacrificing some of the "non-value-added" features is a good compromise

I finally figured out what was wrong ..... I had something running in the background (AOL Companion). I disabled it and AFP is now fine/smooth. thanks again. Bob
