Has anyone tried or know anything about using a serial to usb adapter for AFP? I can get it to work but, I need to ground the tx to the puter to get it to work. I'm not sure if its the adapter or something else.

Not sure about the AFP interface, but I have sold several FMS Serial PIC interface that are used with Mecer USB Serial ports without any problems. Unfortunately, on the USB serial port, only the Mecer name was attached, no model or part number.

The FMS PIC cable will work, however that would only be used as the 2nd joystick for 2 player modes. You still need to use the cable it comes with, either by itself as 9 Pin serial or with a USB to Serial dongle.

Here is one for $13.89. This will work. You can find them on Ebay for less then $10.
