Default AFP Game Commander connection

I apologize if this question been asked before. Just purchased a new pc, only to realize there is no 15 pin game port on the sound card for the game commander installation. Everything is going the way of USB. I assume I should still have the preveilge to fly, using my field TX via the dongle, but I would still occasionally like to use the game commander. Is there an adapter of sorts from 15pin to USB?

Hi
There are many ways around this problem.
You can get a cheap PCI sound card for about $15.
PCI soundcards usally have a 15pin port in them.

Secondly...there is a conversion lead/adaptor
Take a look below

ANALOGE:

DIGITAL:

I use AFP, but not the game controller, im not sure which one it is.
I hope this helps

Cheers

Radio Shack has a USB to 15 Pin game adapter and it works perfect.

Thanks

Thanks everyone,
Our local R/S dealer here and the computer shop said this cannot be done, other than buying a compatable 15pin game card or a new usb joystick.
I should give them the R/C Universe link, for future reference.

Went out and bought the connector at Radio Shack, haven't tried the AFP commander yet. I did try using a joystick for Flght sim 04 and I could not get it to work using the adapter. It would not allow me to calibrate the joystick. What's up with that???
I hope AFP works.

try AFP, there's no harm in that. If there is a problem, let us now.

Sorry it took so long to get back to everyone.
I have once again had success in getting my TX to work, still having trouble assigning and calibrating the game commander though via the RS 15 pin/usb adapter.
I have had occasional luck getting AFP to recognize the commander, only to have difficulty in assigning channels for the commander.
Now I have no joy in having AFP recognize the game commander at all.
Any ideas???

I'm still fighting the same things you are. What a p.o.s. I shoulda just went flying.

Have you looked on the website and found the thing you absolutely must download and execute, after install? How did that work for you?

Just once, I'd like a computer product to arrive completely developed, instead of becoming my headache. Yah, yah, I know, don't bother.

Dave,
I couldn't find a patch to downlownload for this problem. Apparently AZVMAX has his working, maybe we can get more info from him.
I also don't understand why a simple plugin adapter causes so much grief.
Hang in there.
Cheers Al
