Ladies and Gents-
Just wanted to stop by and let all of you know that the highly anticipated RealFlight G3 Heli release is available for immediate download.
Here's a link to the site:
http://12.156.2.54/downloads/RealFli...HeliUpdate.exe
The update itself is approximately 140MB. If you're on a dial-up connection, I would advise you to either find a friend with a DSL or cable modem connection. Alternatively, you might also consider visiting a local library or Internet cafe and downloading it to a thumb drive or similar device. The FREE update discs are expected in Champaign in approximately one week. We'll be sending them out immediately upon their arrival.
If there's anything that you'd like to see added or refined in the simulator, don't hesitate to let us know. As you probably know, software is ever-evolving.
Good Luck and Good Flying,

Can you tell me how to get the heli download?
Thank you

The link worked for me. I downloaded the heli update Monday night and it installed and worked fine. I played with the helis about an hour Monday night and did not notice any problems. I am not much of a helicopter pilot, so my opinion on the physics is not of much use.

Go to the RealFlight site for a list of the planes and helicopters included with G3.

Fantastic!
What a nice Christmas surprise!
It's always great to see the distributors and developers participating in the user forums. It shows us that you are paying attention to what the user community has to say about the product.
The download is almost finshed so it would appear everything is working fine on the server end.
Happy Holidays

This is indeed a nice Christmas surprise. The update looks to have fixed some of the bugs in the software and has enabled the exporting and importing of custom paint schemes

Hello Great Planes,
With all the hype some people are saying about the new G3, I would like to say Ive been using RealFlight since it first came on the market. I really like G3, Its a lot more challenging then the G2.
I have a question about the Heli down load tho.
I did down load it, but I only find a few of the heli's in the selection. Do I need to reinstall Vol.1 through Vol.5 to get the other heli's?
Again Great Planes you have a winner on your hands, keep up the good work.

It's you getting used to it... ;-} I'm getting used to it too! Just think of the skill you now have when and if your planes snap at the field! ;-}

I must say after the Heli update I am really liking it a lot more. Now that I have got used to some of the quirks I am liking this sim more all the time. The heli update is a must have, not only for heli's but some the apparent bug fixes plus they threw in a few new planes! I really like the new YAK model with 3D throws and surfaces. Until this update I wasn't seeing what all the hype was about the YAK, I now have seen the light.
I find myself using AFP Deluxe and G3 about 50/50. They both have their strengths. I Love the walk behind mode in deluxe with the Shock flyers. I actually bought 2 shock flyers because of AFP Deluxe!!

Find flying the E3D indoors or out a big hoot! I gotta get me one-o-dem! More fun than profile gassers, really. Had lots of fun with the Edge 540 in the blimp hanger, too! Smoke on! My girlfriend likes the Obstacle Course. I like it with the F16. That is one helluva challenge with that bird.
Am anxious to try multiplayer after the DSL connect tomorrow. Slider has done some hosting and such, but there were some bugs to workout.
Think I'll get a copy of AFPD to see what all the hype is about, but I really don't like the photo and 3D scenery that much stock. The flight physics will have to be first-rate to make up the difference. Lots of videos I've seen have the physics slowed down so much, the flying is unrealistic. I was impressed with a TOC pilot's flying on it. A friend (Gary Hall) who competed in Tucson Shootout said the top dogs there were doing exactly what I saw on the video...incredible low-level flying, inches off the deck.
G3 still has a long way to go to get rid of glass walls and funky crash/taxi physics of the smaller airplanes. Overall, I like G3, but I'll like it better when bugs are killed. It is improved with the heli-update, but I've got bugs to report to RealFlight, when I get a good list up to send.
Getting late, and I've got some flying to do...

I am not a 3D pilot... YET
so I am not really qualified to comment too much on the high alpha physics but with my usage of both G3 and AFPD I do not see huge differences. They each have features that are unique and they are both great sims. I don't think I could really justify the additional $180 to add AFPD to your G3 just based on the physics, but again, I am not really qualified to comment too much in that area. Once I start flying 3D hopefully this summer I will be a little more knowledgeable about how things "should" feel.

Does that match your list?

I found them, I was looking in the Vol.1 through Vol.5 file in stead of the G3 file. I thought maybe I didnt get them all down loaded.
Thanks again.
