Hi Guys!
I'm curious how other G2 & G3 owners feel about both programs. I have G2 with all add-ons and upgraded to G3. I think that G3 is much better at 3D, and has great graphics (although my PC is stressed to handle everything turned on). There are many things I like about G3, but a few that have kept G2 running on my machine:
1. Landings in G3 seem much too easy. Realistic landings in G2 helped me learn to fly ... in G3 it seems that if you hit one wheel on the ground the plane will land itself. Since landing is the only "mandatory" aerobatic maneuver, I like to practice them on the sim. I will be doing that on G2 and not G3.
2. Realism for smaller .40-.60 size planes. I have a GP Extra 300S (.40 size) with 150+ flights on it. The stock Extra on G2 flies very much like me real plane, and the one on G3 does not. The G3 version is much less stable, prone to tip stalls, snaps out of loops etc. My real plane is set up with the max recommended throws in the manual, and the G2 model flies the same as the real thing. I have similar problems with my GP Spacewalker. I like to practice with my sim before trying new things with my real planes .. again I will turn to G2 rather than G3 to accomplish this.
3. Strange "stutter" when starting the sim. The planes freeze when you first run the sim. Subsequent flights are OK and do not have this problem. But, it is annoying.
There are some other things I don't like .. but these are the main ones.
I really liked G2, and G3 is growing on me ... but it does not seem right to upgrade and get something that is less realistic in some ways than G2.
What do you guys think who have owned both G2 and G3?
Carl
