Default Need your help

Hello everyone, I've just joined a club and went to my 1st meeting, I will be hooking up with another pilot on the buddy box, this week sometime. But I was told that maybe a simulator would be a very helpfull tool in the trainning proccess, so that brings me here to ask this question, I,ve read through some of these threads posted here on this site, and still I'm not quit sure on what sim to buy. Also looking for the best bang for the buck.
I destroyed 2 trainner planes on my own, built a 3rd arf trainner, and can,t wait to hook up with someone, I'm very nervous about flying again, because of the possibility of crashing and the expense of building again. So now I feel that I should invest into a good simulator to help me in my trainning.
Thank you all for any advice

Madmanmikie,

The main things you will get from a sim as a beginner are:
1. Learning not to over-control the model (i.e. don't move the sticks too far)
2. Practice with "control reversal" when the plane is coming towards you.

First off, download the free simulator FMS http://n.ethz.ch/student/mmoeller/fms/index_e.html
That will get you started cheaply (It can get expensive starting out in this hobby)

Then, there are several good simulators to choose from. The three "big" ones are AeroflyPro Deluxe, Realflight G3 or G2, and Reflex. They are all good sims, and all have their die-hard fans. Make sure you read the fine print on the computer requirements for these sims ... most of them need high end graphics cards to run well, and a new graphics card will cost you as much, or more, than the simulator.

Good luck and welcome to a great hobby.

Carl
