Need some help with dave brown sim..

I purchased this on ebay with a Simstar controller.

Question is .. Do I need more than a CD ROM to operate?

On the box it says RCFS 5 and mentions a floppy.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Mac

Mac, if it is RCFS 5 it is supposed to have 1 floppy and a cd. You will be disappointed in it when you get it installed. It's kind of primitive. However, if you get the upgrade to 2001 (about $35), it's neat. You can even hover the Sukhoi.

Thanks Bobby.. I would like to give it a try. I have never used a simulator before. I guess it wouldn't hurt to give it a try. You can send a copy to my email .. [email protected]

Thanks again for your help. I'll let you know if it works.

I have DB RCFS version 4.0 - 4.6, version 5.0 and 2001. There is not a lot of difference between 4.0 and 5.0 except that the flight physics are a lot better and there is some improvement in the graphics. All the versions through 5.0 are vector graphics which are far less CPU intensive than the 3D graphics of today. Even version 5.0 will run on a 386 based machine. The simulator, although primitive in appearance, will give you hours of useful stick time when it is dark or raining.

Default or...

...you can do what I did, use the simstar controller with the FMS simulator (which is free) and you got a great sim to practice on.

Hey lightfoot can you get me your serial number off of the 2001 update? I just got it but there's no freakin serial # so I can't install it. It also says to upgrade from an older version (which I have) but I can't install that either because I have no floppy drive. I tried burning the floppy to a cd, but the first screen asks you to select drive A or B, and the cd rom is on drive D, so I'm screwed there too. Anyhow since the goofnutz at Dave Brown don't answer their phones, could you just give me the serial #???? It would be tremendously appreciated!
