Hey guys Lego just posted this in another forum ... but check this out. He's already working on a true PPS "look feel" for his models!
This thing looks AWESOME. He said it will be ready in a couple days.

And in blue! I would say that the Slow Ride PPS would be the ultimate in foamy flying ... I don't know how it could get any better.

Ian it's not going to happen ... sorry. They don't do it on purpose, they do it because it's just part of their software evolution process. Pretty common in all of the software world.
Just get the update.

Hi folks,
I just uploaded the new PPS-SlowRide.
[link=http://www.kdkuehn.de/sim_afpd_indoor.htm]Download SlowRide-4D[/link]
I set it up a bit more realistic than the original IPACS-Shocky. In reality the PPS does not react that quickly because of the plane's mass. It allways takes you 1-2 seconds from full throtthle ahead to full thottle back.
It's really amazing, what IPACS released now. Just wait for some big TOCs with that PPS-thing... uh, uhhhh
Edit: oh, I forgot to mention, that the skins of both, the normal and the 4D, are compatible. Just copy the green skin over the blue one and vice versa (ensure to have a backup of them).
Have fun!

I love it in blue

.
Thats incredible detail of the PPS. Is possible to make it move like a real one?
Thanks
Greg.

Hi,
don't know. Maybe. But 99% of the time you will not see anything of it. So it might be a big efford for (almost) nothing.

Good point
.
Are you going to do a Monsoon

?
And will it really be possible to do somthing like a 40% TOC plane PPS for AFPD

?
Thanks
Greg.

Lego I sent you an email of the Slow Ride that Geoff made which I used in the video. His seems better flying then your download ... or maybe his is just over tweaked?
Either way give it a try and please provide feedback on it. Just so know which one is more realistic. I know in Germany you've been flying the PPS systems for sometime, but us Americans are behind the times.
If a true PPS is more difficult to fly ... then that's the one I want to fly.
PS - I told you that question about the collective pitch was coming! I'm sure it will be asked a hundred times too!

Dion, any idea when the "real" PPS systems will arrive? I ordered the combo system on May 20th and haven't heard anything on

Hi,
usually the pps needs some seconds to change the flight direction completely.
E.g. if you fly horizontally, take the nose down at full throt forward and you pull backwards with the pps, the model will still continue for 1-3 meters before coming to a full stop and beginning flying backwards.
That is simpy because the model's mass.
When transitioning from full backwards to full forward the model reacts emediately because the wings and rudders get the prop-stream and you have at least after 0.5 sec full control again.
Transitioning the other way round you lose control very soon because the prop-stream fades.
When you try to hover upside-down you normally lose control at all but the model seems to be stable for a short moment - maybe because of the propeller's stabilizing effect - don't know...
When the model begins to move backwards you have a slight rudder effect, so you can control the direction a little bit. But that works only a few seconds after changing directions because the rudders must gain some airflow again.
@Dion, I will have a look onto your version of the SlowRide when I am back home tonight.
Btw.: the pps-system many guys here in germany use, is a modified rotor-head of the IKARUS Piccolo-Pro. It is not too much efford to adjust it to a LRK motor. But of course you need a hollow axis for the motor the the pitch-control-stab.
And - yes, I plan to do the Monsoon too... [8D]

Lego,
Sorry to be a pain but could you do the EDGE-TREME (from slow-flyer.com) 4D PPS
?
And I have a Monsoon in real life (in the building process) I was wondering if it is a realistic proposition to do this 4D PPS
?
Many thanks.
Greg.

Dion, any idea if some control reversal in backwards flight will be modelled? This presents realism issues for tailslides, but now with the variable pitch props it seems like it will be an even more important flight model component.
