Default New Jet for AFP(D)

Hi there,
my latest model, a Harpoon 'Freestyle' is finished and can be downloaded.
It is a modified version of Graupner's original Harpoon but equipped with two-axis-vector thrust and canards.
The Harpoon Freestyle ist the first AFPD-model using vector thrust capabillities for manuvering at low speeds.

For download you can either follow the link on [link=http://www.kdkuehn.de/sim_afpd_motor.htm]my webpage[/link] or download it directly from [link=http://ipacs-sim.com/phpbb/]IPACS-Sim[/link] (under 'Jet models').

Have fun!

Greets,
Dietmar

Here is a little video clip I made. This jet is wild ... love the thrust vectoring. Hope to see more jet models with it. Maybe a jet with a more "3D friendly" planform.

i love this jet too, especially trying to hover it. How about a Comp arf eurosport? that 3Ds without thrust vectoring in real life, so in sim life how about it with thrust vectoring

Question Lego I have is that there is a speed in KTS when the thrust vectoring is more effective ... is there any way to adjust that in the parameters to set the effectiveness of the vectoring at a higher speed?

Hi,
the vector control becomes more effective if you move the center of gravitiy backwards.
If you try e.g. -13.0 instead of -9.0 (where it is by default) you can overpower the aerodynamic forces with the vector thrust at any time. But as an side effect it wil become more sensitive if you hover it.

I adjusted the model to show almost the flight behaviour of the real one (there are currently ony 2 or 3 existing Freestyle-versions world wide). For that I got the little help of one of the builders. [8D] So the model is quite realistic with the default settings except the effect of the airbrake. The real one does not have that nick-down effect. Unfortunately I wasnt able to influence that on the sim-model.... But who cares? Just a detail....

Greets,
Lego

Another vector thrust video by Doc Insane. This is another "don't wanna miss" Doc video. The end of the video shows a real nice close up of the thrust vectoring movement.

Once again Lego GREAT STUFF! Hope to see some more jets like this one!
