reflex xtr problem -- please help

ok guys iv been trying to solve this problem for a while now and have tried everything i have seen to try and solve it, ok right to the problem now, when ever i turn on reflex xtr it allways tells me to Turn on my transmitter, i have taken it out and put back in rebooted my computer , i have even reinstalled xp but no luck, the weird thing is i am using the same cable and transmitter as my dad does on his computer and his works completely fine, its starting to get really annoying now. Thanks in advance to anyone to trys to help me solve this problem.

Andy, let me check some things, ok? Are you using the same tx model number that your father does? If you are using a different one, are you sure is a PPM modulation model?
Have you check if you XP detects Reflex interface as soon you plug it? Mine detected and installed it automatically and it shows it somewhere in "control devices" or so.

i am using the transmitter my dad uses, yes it is on PPM mode, yes it detects it as soon as i plug it in and in device manager it sees it as reflex. thanks for the help

If its a futaba radio, make sure the connector is pushed all the way into the transmitter. I know mine goes in kinda hard and if its not all the way in, itll tell me turn on transmitter until i push it all the way in. Just a thought.
