I am planning on buying a new Compaq with a smoking video card (Genforce 3) however I noticed that the audio on the Compaq 5000 models is integrated with the mother board and not a Sound Blaster. Will the sound on G2 work ok with this? Is anyone out there using a Compaq 5000 with G2?

It probably will work...the GeForce 3 Ti500 card I have and it's smoking. Everything on full bore with no slowdown. If the onbaord sound doesn't work just pick up a semi-cheap sound card (see www.pricewatch.com) and your off to the races. I have an old sound board which "skips" occasionallly that I will upgrade with the Soundblaster Audigy Gamer card soon. Cheap and fast.

I am running G2 on a Compaq 5000 series. It's about 18 months old, 667 Mghz with 64 Meg of ram and "up to 14 Meg of video Ram" As i understand that, it uses what it needs.
I have been fairly happy with it. I do limit the # of items (trees. etc) that I have visible at the airport, so I get a smooth frame rate as I just have the standard video card. But I have no problems with the sound.

My computer is a Compac 5000 series with and Athlon 1G. H.D.
,128 meg. of ram, on board sound card, and G 2 video card.
It runs fine. The sound will stutter every now and then but no framing.
