Default Realflight G3 vs. My computer requirements

Intel Pentium 4, 1.6 Mhz
256 MB Memory
NVIDIA GeForce2 MX 100/200
Ran the demo version and didn't seem to have much trouble.
What happens when I buy the full version?
Is this enough Power?

I wouldn't reccomend it w/that system, AFPD might work though.

It will work but you will need to boost your ram a bit. Clean out your hardrive to make room for the program and update to a different vid card.

Go to the link I provided in the other thread and check there for the proper vid card to use. Your processor is still on the slow side yso you will have to shut down a few things to get decent performance.

But in the link I provied is one section for just G3 discussion and you shold find the list of proper vid cards there. Or you could just go there and ask them. Do not go by what the box says as you will be disapointed as the Box does not list the specific cards that the sim works with and the sim will not work or even open.

Been there done that and got very upset.

They also list systems specs on that site for best performance. Your system would be very low on the ladder.

I have a Pentium Celeron 2.8ghz, 512 ram, yadda yadda and it ran ok until I bought an ATI Radeon 256mb x700 vid card, now it screams, and that's only a $100 vid card, not top of the line by a long shot.

My Dell P4 3.2 GHz with a gig of ram has a framerate of only 20 FPS with the demo version. Although the Radeon x300 PCI Express video card is on the recommended list, it is clearly insufficient with this sim on my setup. Don't rely upon the Knifeedge video recommendations unless you have an independent verification that your system is adequate. I have tried fewer colors and a lower screen resolution without much improvement. I have the latest Direct X and checked for video driver upgrades as well. If anyone has other suggestions for configuration changes (other than new hardware) I would be happy to try. Upgrading my computer with a new video card for this single application is not going to happen at this time.

dont get me wrong dude, but the x300 is a very low-end card...you shouldnt expect too much out of it.

Their site lists cards that are compatable, and yours is compatable. It doesnt say your going to get 60fps out of it...it says it will work, turning off some options will bring it into a playable state.

I understand that the X300 is not a high-end card by today's gaming standards although just a few years ago a card with its specifications would have been unbelievable. I have checked it out and found it to be unsuitable for the G3 demo and presumably for the full version. I was simply making the point that one should not assume that any specific card on the Knifeedge list of OK cards would work. Verify function before you invest in this (or any other) simulator.

The computer was by no means low end when it was purchased about a year ago. Its principle function is not gaming so I did not invest much in the video card. Video has been suitable for all other applications.

It does work though, thats the issue. They list compatable cards, ones that support the graphics APIs that they use. The x300 does. I would bet that in a Dual Core AMD 64 system, with some decent ram, it would run ok. There is no way possible that they can tell you which cards will require which amount of power from the system.

Plus, lowering some of the options would yeild alot of performance...i would bet turning off the shadows would give you a 10-15fps boost...their shadow rending is terribly ineffecient.

Im not saying that the game shouldnt run better on that card, or any other one, it should. There isnt enough on the screen at any time to justify the numbers that i get out of mine. I stay around 45-50 on my laptop, but i can run F.E.A.R at well over 70 with much better graphics. If this engine was packaged into a top-shelf game today, many people would lose their jobs, as its terribly machine hungry. But hey, we're only paying $200 for a game, why should we complain right, i mean, they're practically giving it away.

Basically, G3 is the best sim out there overall, sadly though, the bar is pretty low, so the best isnt saying much...
