Thats the bad thing about talking over the internet with people. They really cant see your expression nor the tone of voice. Of course I think it is great that they are working on updates, importers etc. I was lamenting my abilities, not their effort.

RE: G3 .430 Discussions
I have G3 v410 and am considering moving to v430. Do I have ot download 426 before getting 430 or can I go directly to 430? In either case, when I download 430 will that be a whole separate program than 410, so that I may use one or the other?
Thanks,
Harlan

RE: G3 .430 Discussions
when you open the Real Flight G3 Launcher,, it will automatticaly tell you there is a newer version that is the .430 and ask you:would you like to download it?" and jusy click OK and you are done!!!! then run the simulator,,,,
then to go back and forth beatween version open the G3 launcher and choose update and click on the update you want,, like .410 or .426 whatever you want to try.
I go back and forth beatween them

Here's the problem. I've had G3 for about 5 months, and about 2 months after I got it, I was automatically advised that an update was available. I then got that update (410). However, after that I was never advised that an update was available. I guess that is because Great Planes is still not recognizing 426 or 430 as ready-for-market updates. Since they are betas, they are not ready to automatically update from 410 to either of those versions.
So the bottom line is if anyone is expecting to be notified by GP that an update is available, that person is going to be disappointed. The invitation to update to 430 is being offered by Knife Edge rather than Great Planes.
One other possibility exists, and that is the possibility that the launcher for 410 has to be upgraded before the program will notify anyone that an update is available. Those who have a program produced after mine might have a diffferent launcher.
Anyway, I have 430 now. Thanks for your help.

But as of yesterday, 430 is available as a public update. Your launcher will recognize it if you check for updates. No special instructions are required. Enjoy!

RE: G3 .430 Discussions
Ok. After some major use in the .430, I've come up with a list of what can be improved. Keep in mind that G3 is a great product and I'm just pointing out some things that can be improved.
(1)Multiplayer needs work now. For some reason, I(and others) have trouble hosting.
(2) Sometimes, I have trouble joining.
(3)G3 has errors and has to close unexpectantly.
(4) Colision in multiplayer would be nice, but the host needs to be able to dictate if that goes on or not.
These are all I could come up with for now, but I'm sure there are others. Anyone else know of anything that can be improved?
Thanks,

I could not said it better myself. KE claims nothing changed to effect joining multiplayer modes. There was some coments on the KE forum that it is an issue between the players rather the KE or the update.
The ground handling is also a problem. I also notice the models try to sink into the ground like in quicksand or deep mud when not on the runway.
They still need to make the models visually depict any editing to them. Such as wing designs, sizes etc. So many edited models I see do not have the same stick views as the paint views. If you understand what I am trying to say. Say if you move the wing from a lower position to a mid wing position then it shoudl show on the visual model. If you change the wing profile from NACA 14 to a Flat Plate style then the visual wing profile should change. If you change the fuse design from a full fuse to a narrow flat style then it should show the changes visually.

Good one Rat. I'd definately like to see a visual editor. I know of one person who wants a 37.5% 3W yak for G3(if ya wanna name yourself, go ahead) and you could easily edit to the right size, but it wouldn't look exactly right. As far as ground handling, and the models being on ice, I believe that you can edit that out.(not sure though as I happen to like it[helps landing skills]) Also, the models sinking, I think that that's a problem with the models and not G3, but if that could be fixed be KE, it would be sweet.

RE: G3 .430 Discussions
Would love to edit-out the atrocious ground-handling. Does anyone have a "fix" for it? I'd like the ground-handling just like .410.
I've edited several favorite planes to my liking, and it makes .430 easier to live with (makes it harder to fly, like I'm used to).
I don't know much about changing parameters to affect flight physics (I'll be the first to admit it), except flight aerodynamics.
I have to rely on others expertise for ground-handling and other "foreign" concepts.
After spending hours fine-tuning my planes for .430, I'd like to emulate .410 ground-handling, without running a separate install on another hard drive, or computer with .410.
I do have .410 on another computer, but I want cake and icing and all that...

RE: G3 .430 Discussions
do you guys feel that most of the planes feel nose heavy on 430 and you have to give it a lot of up trim to fly level???? so you don't have much left to trim it up some more!!!!

You WILL have to edit your planes to fly like you want them to, compared to .410. Physics are different in .430, and it will affect all planes/helis in the sim. Better get started...

RE: G3 .430 Discussions
OK...I wanted some time to compare both iterations (.410 & .430) side-by-side. I have .430 on my boot raid array, and .410 on one of my external USB drives, same computer.
.410:
Great ground-handling (I'm used to it), snappy/lively flight handling (I'm used to it), overall "feel" is well-developed, crisp, and fits me like a glove (I'm used to it). This iteration requires more practice and skill to master. While frustrating at first, it rewards pilots by making them more skilled than other sims can...one of its best virtues.
.430:
Not-so-good ground handling (photofields), much easier "feel" as 3D maneuvers are more controllable, and stable, aircraft do need tweaking to suit (as did .410). This update needed to support latest RFG3 modeling additions. Engine torque effects exaggerated on takeoff. This iteration will not intimidate new RC or RC simulation pilots, as it is not as snappy or tippy as .410.
I personally prefer .410, because it is harder to master, and demands more of pilots flying it.
Each one has its good/bad points.
It really doesn't matter to me any more which version I have to decide to live with, because either iteration is now just an icon click away...ahhh, much better!

RE: G3 .430 Discussions
I still find that landings unrealistic in G3. You can come in way too fast at a steep angle and the planes seem to stick to the ground. The landings in G2 seemed much more realistic to me. Anyone else feel this way?
That said, I think .430 is much better. Many of the models fly much more like my real models (GP Extra 300s .40 sixed, GP Spacewalker).
