I just gave G3 Multiplayer mode a whirl. It rocks !!!
What a nice job they did implementing it.
I'm not a gamer and I'm sure gamers are used to this sort of thing, but I'm really impressed.
You can get tips from friends about your flying, you can learn from watching others, you can chat with them.
You can Host or Join a session.
This was a bonus I never expected.

Can someone explain to me how that works, I'm just curious? Do you have to have a server or does G3 have a server you go to and use or a web site you go to or something like that? That is a pretty cool feature that G3 has, I wish all the other big sims would come out with that.

It has a directory server.
So basically it goes to that server and checks to see who is currently registered as a host. It gives list of each host with a Title (usually telling preferences I.E. 3D Fun Fly) and number of slots (users) supported and actual. Very simple very intuitive.
For example
Freds 3D FunFly 2 / 6 Users
Slope Soaring 1 / 2 Users
Open FunFly 5 / 5 Users
You can also connect directly to a host.
You can Host a session on the directory and just wait until folks fly in :-)
Or call a friend and have them directly connect privately (without registering on the directory server).
It's like going to a Chat Room. But you fly instead (and chat).
P.S. When I saw Multiplay I assumed it was the trainer cord thing and never looked further, I had no Idea it did this.

In all the times that I've used it on multiplayer, the people are usually just trying to show off, either their sim flying skills and or some custom creation of plane of heli. I've yet to find a good connection where people are talking, usually people dont even respond to people that go into multiplayer and ask some questions.
It's certainly a cool bonus to the sim, but I often find that people get disconnected quite frequently, or maybe they just disconnect themselves quite frequently. I've seen times where 4 or 5 people get disconnected while flying and then return shortly thereafter. Possibly just using poor connections.
I dont really care for the way that the sim substitutes planes that are in x-packs that I dont have. I would think it would be better if they actually showed these planes so that the user might want to buy the xpack for the planes that are available, but thats the way it is so what ya gonna do.
Overall, nice bonus feature.

Well maybe they can't chat and fly at the same time.. I always hope the airport I join allows cockpit and chase views on camera C, not all airports allows this feature. I like to watch and learn, I call up the gadget "controller" and can see the pilots moves while watching his plane. I chat when I can, I speak when spoken to... But if I'm flying, I don't have the skill to do both. I typically fly the corsair, as I'm building a TF Giant now...
