Default G2 Viewports (where's my plane?)

OK I recently got G2, and it's the best sim I've used, but I want to find out how other users configure the viewport options.

I've got it set to the pit view, and a small viewport of my plane showing the attitude.

What I'd really like is a crude overhead view showing where my plane is in relation to the runway. When the main screen follows the plane, my orientation gets messed up. I have to get low enough to see the ground (and hope I don't hit a tree) to find the runway, then line up for landing.

I know about the down arrow thing, but that's hokey when you've got both hands on the Tx.

I've got lots of RC experience, just trying to make the sim mimic that as much as possible.

Any suggestions on settings and viewports? Is there a non-changing overhead viewport you can set up?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Try using the "look at ground" feature. You will always have the horizon in view. I assigned it to the "0" key so I can toggle it on and off. May help to enlarge the model some, depends what your flying.
