Clearview is the only game i can get to work with my dragonfly helicopter controller. Anyone own it and is it worth the $30 bucks?

Depends what you want to do with it. If you want training for shuttle landings, it may not be. For flying Dragonfly it could help you. There is some free flying time. Did you try?

Glad you like the Bayside RC field. The Vaca Valley RC club and Livermore RC club fields also came off well I think.

i was thinking about getting it but maybe not after i read your license stating "If you purchase a single-copy license, you have the right to use a single "Registered version" of ClearView on a single computer at any given time" I live at 2 houses and use 2 different computers so the game wouldn't work correct? On both, only 1

The license is for single computer at a time. As courtesy to CV customers, activation for second computer is provided if they request one. This is if we beleive the program will not be used by two users at the same time.

Good decision. I am sure you will like it. If not, drop me e-mail and get refund. You just can't lose with ClearView.

So far the customer base for CV is small and multiplayer is not on the top of my list of new features. I will continue adding new small electric helis and a number of new features like training mode, extencive servo selections, Rate and HH Gyro choice and some fixed pitch model improvements.

what about parts breaking off instead of the plane/heli bouncing 10 feet high when you hit the ground?

I think this is a gimmic, the simulator must simulate flying and not crashing, but having it included in the future is a possibility.

Hey Stephan, I see you're with Clearview? I tried the trail version because my RCFS V5 sim won't work on XP. I got it installed, but I'm running at MAYBE one frame every few seconds, it's impossible to fly. Any clues?

Two possible problems:

- Old video driver
- Old video card that does not have the memory and/or speed to handle the sim.

Send me this file:c:\Program Files\SVKSystems\clearview\log.txt and I will get back to you. (send it to [email protected] - remove 123 )

Thanks
Stefan

It used to have frame rate counter, I took it off, I don't like cluttered screen. In the feature it will have more elaborate status display. For now fraps is fine IMHO.

Well, since we are just asking questions

What is the meaning of the 3 camera types.
1.Direct
2.Al (huh?)
3.Dynamic

I don't see much obvious difference.

Direct - camera follows the model so the model is allways in the center of the frame.
Dynamic - the camera may lag after the model. In small model movements the camera may not move -Just like in real life, when the model makes small movements, you do not move your head to follow, you just follow the model with your eyes.
AI - The simulator makes best effort not to move the camera, while still keeping the model on the screen. Name comes from Artificial Intelligence since the program have to guess somewhat where the model will be.

Dynamic and AI mode better keep the ground in view as well.

That's pretty cool. I'll try those out. Seeing the ground can be an issue in ALL sims, no doubt.
Sometimes I think I am on a nice final approach, and then suddenly realize I am lined up right
into the pits or a tree

Isn't there a paramater in the airplane file that you can set to make the plane increase in size
if you get disoriented and fly too far away? I think I tried it, but no luck. I need to figure out
how to add a parameter. The planes look like they don't have a default entry for that one?
Maybe in the raw data file, rather than on the fly while the plane is loaded?

Thanks.

There are 3 zoom options. The custom zoom option is very powerfull. It is controlled by these parameters in advanced settings:

startZoomDistance 10.0
fieldOfViewNear 45.0
endZoomDistance 50.0
fieldOfViewFar 20.0

In this example, if the model is less than 10 meters from the pilot, the field of view will be 45 degree.
If the model is more than 50 meters, the filed of view will be 20 degree (model will be zoomed)
If the model is between 10 and 50 meters the field of view will vary from 45 degree to 20 degree (variable zoom as model flies away.

You can change these parameters to any model in advanced setting and experiment with the custom zoom.

In addition, F5 zooms in and F6 zooms out.

Stefan,

My Plasma monitor has a native resolution of 1280x768, which is a 16:9 screen ratio, not standard 4:3. Will ClearView work in wide screen resolutions such as 1280x768? I tried the ClearView demo, it was only 4:3 screen ratio.
