Default Help!! Just bought new puter-- Will sims play on widescreen moniter

Hi guys i just bought a new dell and thought it would be cool to get the 20'' ultrasharp widescreen as a add on well , after i ordered it i went to local store and the salesman was saying how some widscreen monitors wont play the higher end 3d graphic type games. Will afpd, g3 and others play on my new widescreen monitor geeez i hope so other wise i guess i change my order to the 19'' flatpanel hmm

Also my system is coming with this video card

128pci express x16 (DVI/vga?tv out ) ATI Radion x300se hyper memory video card

do you think it will run g3 , maybe i will have to turn down the settings a little bit im thinking ,,

I went to the compatible cards listing and seen that Radeon x300 mobility had a double yes for playability , is this the same card as mine????

OH here is my new system

Dell dxps 400
pentium d dual core 2.8 ghz 800fsb
windows xp mediacenter
1gb dual channel ddr2 ****m at 533mhz-2dimms
20 ultrasharp widscreen monitor
128pci express x16 (DVI/vga?tv out ) ATI Radion x300se hyper memory video
250gb hard drive
dual drive 16xdvd rom drive/16xdvd rewrite dbl layer capability
a525 speekers with sub

thanks for the help , Bob

Oh yeah , sorry for you guys reading on the different boards and notice this same post, just wanted my ?? out there quickly

THanks cadconversions,

That makes me feel better now, now does that show up on the whole screen of the widescreen right, that would be a nice big flying scenary. If you dont mind me asking what video card are you using and do you know if my card above that comes with the system will run g3 efficiently . Thanks again Bob

bob, I'm using a 256 MG card Nvidia GeForce 7800 GTX and it rocks on a 3.0 Ghx Pentium D processor with 2 GB of ram. The screen is completely filled.

With the amount of ram you have the video card should be fine. It might even be better than the one I got - I just don't keep up with them enough to know when mine is outdated

I run CAD software on my computer mainly so I sprung for a higher end graphics card then I would have normally got.

A 7800GTX is still one of he best cards out there. The 300 is much lower than it.

I have the same card in mine and it runs slow when everything is activated. If you turn off the shadows then it is good. I wish I knew this before buying my new "bundled" HP Media Center, I would have gotton the 700 card.

Well all this talk of ram and vid cards made me call up dell and do a little switching lol , I upgraded from my 1gb of ram to 2 gb of ram , should have plenty now haha

And for only 40 bucks more I upgraded my video card also, went from this

128MB PCI Express™ x16 (DVI/VGA/TV-out) ATI Radeon X300 SE HyperMemory [Included in Price]

to this

256MB nVidia Geforce 7300LE TurboCache [add $40

Im assuming this card will run these types of programs and other games better than the first one

Anyone know if this card will handle full affects . Thanks guys for all the help

Very nice upgrades, I'm glad you chose the nVidia, as most games are going to open GL, also, the ati 300 has that hypermemory, which means that it only has shared memory, so it might go up to 128mb but it wont stay their all the time. You will be able to play any game out right now, on medium/high settings... for sure, high for bf2, hl2, & all the sims....
