I just thought I'd share my experience with the Milehighwings.com interface cord. I purchased the one for the E-flite blade cp on friday and it arrived today. Plugged it in, popped in their CD and ran the calibration utility which worked smoothly. Then I followed their directions for FMS and was flying. Definitely note their instructions about removing the crystal or module. Not only does this keep it from transmitting but you also use many many times less battery power. I "flew" for a few hours without the battery meter dropping one notch.
They were nice enough to include a LOT of models for FMS, some great ones. That was a nice extra. Pre-flight was also on the cd and I don't know where the trouble was but I never did get it working smoothly with the controller. I suspect the problem was with pre-flight though, since the interface works fine in other applications. So far I'm very impressed. The product is well made for what is essentially a home built unit. The software worked fine on my 64 bit windows pro system, always a concern.
I would rate this a 4.5 out of 5, the extra half point is deducted for the less than elegant packaging and CD labeling. Basically the product could use some extra polish to the presentation but I have not found any flaws in the actual functionality. For $40 I feel like I got my money's worth. Not in terms of materials, since they are probably dirt cheap to produce, but in terms of value for my money. The product performs as advertised and came with stable and easy to use software and good instructions. Microsoft could take lessons from them.
Hopefully the extra practice time without risks will help me improve my heli skills quickly. If nothing else it makes for a darn fun game setup for less than the cost of one current release video game.
