Default Using a 9ZAP with G3

This is probably a pretty basic question, but I hope someone can help me. I use G3 a lot and love it. So far, I have been using the supplied transmitter. I want to start using my 9Z because it has a much stiffer "feal" and has longer sticks. Here are my questions:

1 - Does it have to be turned on and if so, what long term effects will this have on the battery?
2 - Do I need to set up a model in the 9Z to use with the sim or can I use an exhisting model?
3 - Can I use the flight conditions in the 9Z and have them work on G3 (i.e. for my IMAC plane, I run normal rates, snap rates, and roller rates)
4 - Any long term issues of using the 9Z without a freq. module installed (I live in a neighborhood with several pilots who fly helis and foamies in the backyards).

Thanks in advance -

Keith
