I'm not sure how many G2 and G3 owners have run into this problem, but it did a lot on my G2 controller and did for the first time today on my new G3 controller.
The pin that connects the gimbals to the stick backs out. It is light pressed into the center of the stick from the back side of the gimbal assembly and with use starts backing out. You first notice a "catch" in the center of travel as you pass through the center. If you don't repair it as soon as you notice the "catch", the pin will continue to back out until one of the axis slips off the pin and the gimbal locks up. Believe me, it's much easier to push the pin back in before it comes out too far.
Just center the gimbal and use a blunt pin or a piece of music wire, about the size of the hole in the center of the gimbal brace that goes across the gimbal on the back side. Gently push the pin back in until it seats. Don't force it if it doesn't go in fairly easy.
If the pin has come out and locked the gimbal, it requires a lot of alignment to get it back in. But it is possible to get back in. Just take your time and get it aligned correctly and it will go back into it's hole.

My controller is getting so bad about the pin bcking out, I drilled a small access hole in the back of the case. At least now I don't have to remove the case back to re-insert the pin! [sm=tongue_smile.gif]
