How much $$$ is an issue? You can get an ATI 9800 XT for under 100 on Ebay or I have a x800 pro that I flashed to an XT-PE for under 200.00 about a year ago. Both should work fine with G3

I went through two different upgraded ATI cards that were on the recommended list. I finally sent the whole thing back as I could not get G3 to run on a computer with 780MB RAM and 2000MHz speed. I would not use an ATI card.

You may want to check your available RAM...

I got a little 2.8GHz P4 Pentium processor equipped Compaq with an onboard Intel video chip (Compaq is made by HP now) and it runs G3 fine but needed a RAM upgrade to do so. It came with only 256k and I got an additional 1MB, then dedicated 128k of the total to the onboard video card.

Unfortunately RAM has gotten somewhat expensive lately, so you'll need to watch for the sales at your local computer store as it will very likely cost you more than a new video card. But even a new video card won't help if you don't have enough system RAM.

Certainly check the RAM as was suggested. Around here, Virginia, RAM is still fairly cheap. I just picked up a 512MB chip for $30.

Unfortunately my machine will only support a gig.

You can also take a loog at the nvidia 6600 GT or the 6800 GT cards. Both are good. I just put a 6600 GT in my machine for $130 from newegg.com. Not yet sure if it will work with G3, but it should.

I also installed the 6600GT downloaded the driver that came with it and the thing would stop and give me fits .I went to the website and downloaded the latest driver since then its worked great not sure why, but working without a hitch just upgraded to the G-3.5 its a step above for sure
