My fps is around 2x slower in a window mode than in full screen mode. In the flight school scenary fps is around 90 fps in full screen mode, but only around 50 in window mode. When entering the "Heli hovering trainer" my fps is steady 60 in full screen but drops bellow 30 in window mode which I find unplayable.
The reason why I want to use the the window mode is because the menu is always visible and I can easily switch to and from other applications without any delay.
My CPU is Core 2 Duo 6600, GPU GeForce 7900 GT. I'm using 1280x960 resolution, all the details are maxed out except shadows which are turned off.
I'm currently using RealFlight G3.5 but unfortunately I don't know if this problem is G3.5 specific or if it applies to G3 as well since I installed the update right away.
Did anyone experience similar problems and perhaps knows a way to fix it? Thanks.

Windows (the operating system) puts a fair bit of graphical overhead on the video system. So when you're flying full-screen, G3.x doesn't need to share the video capabilities with anything else. If you're in windowed mode, you're splitting the capabilities of your machine between the sim and Windoze. Anytime Windows needs to draw the title bar, start button, "X" close button, etc. it's taking graphics "power" away from everything else. All sims do this...as do all 3D games (Doom, WoW, etc...)
I tried flying in windowed mode for a while, and the performance loss wasn't worth it to me. In G3.x, tapping the "Alt" key brings up the menus instantly, so I don't see the bother in displaying them all the time. Also, the time it takes to Alt-Tab to switch to another program is still less than the time it will take to hide your Interlink controller from the boss when you're flying at work, so why are you worried about program switching time?
FWIW, accessing menus and switching planes, fields, programs, etc. in FS One takes friggin FOREVER...
Hope this helps!

Gentlemen, and Lady`s
I recently purchased an Real Flight G 3.5. I have been using the sim for the last 5-6 days and enjoying it.....Until the spring on the elevator control gave way. The control still works but the centering spring is gone and that makes it hard to controll. anyone else had the same problem?, and what did you do about it?
Thanks
Larry

The spring is fairly easy to replace in any kind of TX. They are available at some hobby shops and my local hardware store has replacement stock as well. People very often swap out the originals with stronger ones as a preferred modification to their new TXs.
The backs of almost every Futaba I've ever worked on come off easily with the removal of the screws that're obvious on the back of the TX. The springs are usually fairly easy to see and not really hard to replace if you have small needle nose pliers.
The manuals that come with a lot radios mention replacing those centering springs with stronger ones. The mfg's don't usually suggest something like that unless it's fairly simple and easy to do. And it is.

...but... opening the Interlink will void any warranty that may be in effect. The Interlinks have a bad reputation lately for being a bit weak at the support pin where that spring attaches. Two choices here:
1) If you're the bold type who don't need no stinkin' warranty, go ahead and pop the back off. It's a broken plastic post, and there are several threads over at Knife Edge about how to fix/reinforce it.
2) Call Great Planes or Knife Edge support directly. They're used to dealing with this bad batch of Interlinks, and should be fairly quick and happy about replacing the controller.
3) Plug your real Tx into the Interlink and get the interface working... fly your real Tx instead of the Interlink. It's really just a glorified dongle like the other sims use anyway!
Hope this helps!
