Default usb-serial dilema

I am trying to run FMS thru my laptop. Program runs fine with MS sidewinder joystick. I am trying to connect my Hitec Flash5 to get it to run. Laptop only has usb and no serial port. I brought a serial-usb adaptor, installed drivers that came with it. FMS picks up the new port (com7) but is not detecting any signal from the handset. Any Ideas??

Go to the control panel and have your laptop recognize the controller first. Then turn on FMS and try it again.
