Read RealFlight Knowledge base. They have an article on the use of such converters. Not all converters are officially supported, though the old RealFlight controller, which is merely an analog joystick, should work fine with any of these converters.
RadioShack USB-to-Gameport converter costs about $17+tax.
The alternative solution would be to buy a cheap sound card and get yourself a real gameport. www.pricewatch.com shows plenty of $7 PCI sound cards.

George,
I've got the same problem with my new Sony VAIO. The sales clerk recommended I try www.Belkin.com to get a converter. When you find one, I'd be very interested to know how it works out for you, i.e. does it cause any glitches or make things run slower, etc. Let us know.

George,
The JSIM USB interface from www.rc-electronics.co.uk has worked for every sim I've tried it with but the one thing I can't say for definite it works with is RealFlight (cos I haven't got a copy!)
