Default G2 won't work in XP nor ME!!!!!

Hello there!

The title says it all my G2 WON"T WORK!! I installed it in windows xp (professional). And as soon it start loading the textures the computer restarts by itself. So i tried installing on windows ME. In ME i do the initial install. As soon as i wanna run it for the first time it gives me an error about a DIMPUT8.DLL that it can't find which the computer does have!!! I think the DIMPUT.DLL file is from directX which i installed. And i have tried using the instalation fix don't know what else to do!!!! HELP PLEASE!!!

If reinstalling doesnt work, try downloading the latest drivers for your card, and updating G2. Im running it on xp pro, and it runs flawless.

If all else fails, do what beavertail mentioned, call the support line.

Good Luck

DIMPUT8 (did you mean dinput8?) is one of the dynamic link library files in windows, and often gives problems.

For some help, see:-

Hope that helps!

Default G2 won't work in XP nor ME!!!!!

My PC has a 1.8+ AMD Athlon, 256 DDR memory and my video card is a TNT2 16 megs of memory on that. Which i think is the weakest link now. I'm oredering one today. This is just temporary replacement since my GForce video card died. I'll try with my newcard. Thing is this card does meet the minimum requierements. I guess it'll work as soon as i get a new card.

Wow. All those answers yet nobody asked about online registration.

When you install G2, you must register it online. After you enter your info and serial number, it will update itself and work just fine.

It will not work otherwise. You'll just get a half white, half black or checkerboard screen or something similar. You will hear sounds and may even be able to control an aircraft but no video.

There is nothing wrong with your computer or program. I doubt you need to mess with video drivers. Just register, download and have fun!

Default None

None of the replies fixed it. I got tired of trying to get it to run on WIN XP or ME so i just installed WIN 98 on another hardrive and there it ran like it was supposed to. I figure that if i do a fresh install of WINXP it should run fine, my OS has gone trough some tinkering so i guess there are some little gremlings at work...and i'm just to lazy to backup all my data on my main HD and do a fresh install now. But i first time i saw G2 was on a Xp machine that was less powerful than this one so i know it has to be that mine is just a bit out of tune...
