Hi Sloppy,

Which graphics card is giving you the best results?

the PNY 5900 ultra is a 256 mb card (8 x AGP)
the ATI 9000 pro is a 128 mb card
(4 x AGP)

The PNY geforce 5900 ultra is much better than the ATI 9000 pro.

allso the better video card has the faster processor and the more RAM, faster Front Buss speed, so it ain't even fair.

And the PNY came with overclocking software that I have't felt the need to use.

Don't get me wrong, the ATI was a freebie... it works fine with (some) settings turned (slightly) down.
I got it because the previous owner was dissatisfied with the performance. (Halo 3) I think it was.

Harry

P.S. main computer is 2.8 ghz processor, frankenstien computer is 2.4 ghz processor.

If you want my recomendation for a AGP video card, buy a GeForce 7800.
256 mg and 8x pipeline too.
My son has one and this is the number one AGP video card.
only way to beat it is with the new PCI Express slot and a 512 mb card.

GeForce sells a MOBO with 3 - PCI Express slots on it, you run 3 - 512 mb video cards all working together. this = 1,536 mb video.
now that is what I call a supercomputer....

Say Sloppy..

I hope you guys don't feel that I'm Jacking your post here,...But I'm definately not the "Puter Head" that you guys seem to be. and I'd really like you to go into as much detail as you can about this "MOBO" that Geforce/PNY sells...

I've got a PNY/geforce 6200 AGP 256 MB, Vid card,..And 1 gig of RAM,..With 2.53 gigs of CPU speed,.. on a XP home version 2002,..OSys... And I 'd like to run Phoenix,.. with all the "zoot" turned up..

(That is,.. when I can find a Phoenix for sale,..without having to send all the way to the UK..?)

I did run the lil demo vids that can be downloaded off the net,.. and they were a bit non-smooth or notchy...Even after several adjustments to quality and refresh rates..??

Thanks much,.........................Dave..

With your great hardware you may want to install another gig of RAM, that should smooth things out.

But also check your BIOS settings, you may have to activate 8x AGP capablity.

Or you may check with the manufactures' web sights for the latest drivers (free downloads) for your motherboard and your video card too.

Sloppy,..............

To make an automotive anology of this situation that you are outlining for me to do and activate,...

You are asking a (TYPICAL) sixteen year old,.. about to start his second day of "Driver's Ed" in high school...To take on a total re-build of an AUTOMATIC transmission on his Dad's four year old, Dodge pickup. Without an instructor..............lol

Really I think that I'd better see if I can find a nerd friend to keep me from getting hopelessly lost...

I would not have even the slightest idea as to where to look to even find my "Bios"

The vid card already has the latest drivers as of about a week ago...If I'm lucky I might be able to find the latest drivers for the MoM Board...and get 'em installed...

This seemingly endless need to keep digging deeper and deeper into a computer,... is why I've never had a Sim before now,.. that worked worth a darn...I'm a sixties "Gearhead" Not a Ninties "Puterhead"..

I'm off in search of a GEEK,............................................. ..........................Tanks,.................. ...........Dave..
