I have had this problem with some other programs,"I think"because alot of file moving and deleating and tweaking system configuration to speed up the system start up has removed a nessasay file to run heli x,but flyx has nice landscapes for fms to look real good, but there are still no ground effects like landing skids sliding thats why I want to run heli x.
there is install it says to just run a bat file

That's the Java ..
You need Java or load the Java version if you don't have Java. Or Download Java.
Since my PC has Java already, It'll only work with the version without Java.
The Java version will still load and calibrate my TX...but the engine won't start
it's a stand alone.... just extract it and leave it as a folder. No need to install it into program files.
Okay..i just Figure out a little hick up...Look in the "file" folder.
LOOK in the controller sub-folder...are there files in there ???
If not...Edit an XML file using NOTEPAD and put it in that folder. look at the attach image.
Just drag one of XML files out of a scenery or model folder..erase those text and write
the control set up . Then just rename it to whatver you want.
The Heli-xjava files I have was missing those files in the controll folder..that's why it woundn't go .
You also need to assign the idle up 1 and 2 to a keyboard or a switch in order for the engine to start.
It takes a while for it to load because the images are big 2048x2048 images per panel.
It's a total of 8192x4096 pixels..Think if it as downloading 10-20 mb off of the net.
It runs good now on my laptop with only a 128mb share memory Nvidia Go6150 vedio card, 1G ram , 64 turion
Yeap..i cleaned my start up program, cleaned my resgistry and all that good stuff.
But most important..I changed my display setting to 16bit instead of 32bit becuase Vista has that little picture in picture
on the tool bar. It elimimated the PIP. I also adjust my vidio card to performace. I have a HD LCD screen, so it still looks
good. I get 70-80 FPS at full screen . Before that ..i was having problems with frame per second.
I also changed my Bios to have my vedio card take the bulk of the graphic. It gives my Laptop a good work out.lol
I hear the fan turning on a bit more when running Heli-x, but it runs perfect on my system now.
With that Java scrip being use or required to stay open while running Heli-x that's 4 windows or vidio for Vista (PIP).
What I'm saying is..if i can run it on this laptop..you should be able to run it on a tower.
