Ok, so on the FSOne site, dated today, March 13, 2008, there is a 1.0.9 patch.
However, I THOUGHT I installed the same patch months ago. There is also one with the same name dated November 26, 2007.
What gives?
Also, I bought the "Hangar Pack 1" to get the Trex 450 simulation, yet the model flies NOTHING like a Trex 450. It barely flies with any stability at all. In fact it's so spastic, it makes the Blade CP model seem docile. I don't understand what's going on with this software. The Trex 450 is completely unstable. I use the stock, FSOne TacCon controller. It's been calibrated repeatedly. FSOne's gone wacky. Neall

I think there was a special patch for the whirlybirds, but I did not pay attention because I don't fly them. Go back in this thread and do some reading. I installed the 1.0.9 patch back around 11/20/2007, so it has been out a while. I think they were working on a new patch due out soon (whatever soon means
).

P.S. I just looked on the web site and the current FS_One_Patch_1_0_9.exe file is exactly the same size as the one I originally downloaded.

I bought the Hanger pack 1 as well, specifically for the T-Rex 450, which is the helicopter I own. I gave up on the FS-One version after trying various fixes. I fly the Voyager 50 in the sim, it flies much closer to the real T-Rex 450. In fact, I believe the Blade CP flies closer to the real T-Rex 450.
It's too bad that FS-One isn't being improved. It started out with lots of promise, but there haven't been any meaningful improvements since it was released. I'm sure G4 outsells it by a large margin - I use to recommend FS-One to my fellow club members, now I tell them not to buy it.

In general, there is a odd issue with the Heli and 1.0.9 updates. It says to install the Heli patch first, then the 1.0.9 one. However, when I did it, the Heli update complained that the program was not updated enough. But as the 1.0.9 patch description says, it's ok to install the 1.0.9 twice if you forget to install the Heli first. So what I did was, 1) install 1.0.9 2) install Heli and 3) install 1.0.9 again. That works.
Specifically regarding the Hangar Pack 1, someone else here said that they had to 1) uninstall and resinstall FS One 2) first install the Hangar Pack and only then 3) install the patches (Heli and 1.0.9)... that supposedly made the Hangar Pack work and behave properly. So could be that the Heli update is having no effect on the new Heli's from the Hangar Pack (if not done like described here).
I won't be able to confirm the part about the Hangar Pack myself until a few days from now because I'm still waiting on the Hangar Pack to arrive in the mail.

I noticed that too about the TREX 450 in the expansion pack....I flew it at my LHS and it was NOTHING like the real thing! I thought maybe it was just the settings at the LHS and that they didn't have the controller calibrated, but it sounds like that's not true. I too fly the voyager 50.....closest to my trex 450.

I found out that it will still be over a week before I receive my Hangar Pack in the mail, so will be a while yet before I'm able to try out what I wrote about further up.
To those who have installed Hangar Pack 1:
Have you tried re-applying the Heli update (and then after that re-applying the 1.0.9 update) after installing the Hangar Pack?
Quote from the FSOne download page:
Clearly the Heli patch alters the files that are specific to the individual Heli models themselves (it does not just replace core software files like most patches do). And you can tell that it's doing something like that (not just replacing a few common files) when you run the Heli update (and there seems to be heavy cpu processing going on during the update).
So therefore the Heli patch might need to be re-applied for any newly installed Heli's.
If that does not work (if the Heli update can't be re-applied), then it's worth trying with a fresh install of FSOne like I described in my earlier post above.
Again I'll try all this myself as soon as I have the Hangar Pack.

Quote from the FSOne download page:
This heli performance upgrade patch updates all existing heli models to improve the flight performance and realism. .... Pre-existing heli models are retained in a new folder for access unmodified by the performance upgrade patch. .....
So therefore the Heli patch might need to be re-applied for any newly installed Heli's.

I just installed the "new" 1.0.9 patch last night to see if it was any different that my previous 1.0.9 patch.
Well, it definitely is! I noticed right away it fixed an annoying bug where when starting the heli after a crash in idle up mode, it would yaw/spin uncontrollably and crash. It also changed the location of where you start in reference to the pilot. The larger heli's are now much farther away from you like you would do for real.....I hated having the 50 and 90 heli right next to my feet! It does seem like a nice patch.
They just simply screwed up the name of it!

I'm glad the Heli's are not starting up at your feet any more though
I've never had the Heli's start up close to me like that. Maybe you just forgot or messed up your 1.0.9 update the first time?

I downloaded it and compared the MD5SUM to the old one. They are the same and same file size. MD5SUM is e3b86b6bd1dadc7fa22502b0223fd677.

Hmm. I installed it before calculating the checksums and flew the Voyager 50 without any difference that I could see. And I don't have any stats handy, but md5 is highly unlikely to give the same value for two different sets of code of the same size. I just calculated a CRC32 checksum using the ARJ32 compression utility; it also reports identical checksums.
Here is the paragraph from the website (http://www.fsone.com/Articles/HobbyWire.aspx#1075):
And the "link below" that it refers to only gives the download itself (from where I got my copy of the new one). Did you find more extensive release notes? Could you post them? I'm not necessarily doubting you or this whole thing... Obviously FSOne is suggesting that there is a new update available. I'd like to get to the bottom of this.
Cheers
Here is the paragraph from the website (http://www.fsone.com/Articles/HobbyWire.aspx#1075):
FS One has made a new Update/patch available. Their new V 1.09 is ready for download at this time. This patch should be installed to bring the simulation exe to Version 1.0.9. It can be installed over any version prior to Version 1.0.9. Please see the short article and explanation at the link below.
Cheers

The 1.0.9 patch I downloaded back on 2007, did indeed work because my version number shown in the sim said 1.0.9.
