I have some Geforce FX5200 256meg video ram and a P4 2.9Ghz 2Gig ram.
Im thinking about stepping up the card a bit. I can run the Phoenix demo in medium mode and at any res but not the higher detail mode.
So looks like I might have to upgrade if I want to run in the hiher detail mode. It does look great in the medium mode.
But Ive been a graphics freak for some years and like the graphics to look their best.
Just wonder what guys are running to get the hight end graphics looks going. My motherboard has the standard PCI and AGp slots so
I might have to boost that up too to run the new PCI express cards. Im running two pci cards right now to run 4 monitors for ham radio stuff Im doing.
So would like to still run them. I guess I would have to get two cards of whatever I go up to so I can still have 4 outputs.
Wish there was a way to run the sim across 4 monitors like some games can. Anyone doing that.

I would say something along the lines of a 6600/6800 would do the job, even with antialiasing - but that is by no means top-end these days.

if you get an asus motherboard with pci express slots they can take up to 3 graphics card on certain mothorbpoards, with each card being compatable to run 2 moniters, so you could have 6 displays running if you wanted to. im curantly using an nvidia geforce inno 3d 8800gt and the flight sims are breath taking.
Also forgot to mention with nvidia graphics cards you can stretch your display accross as many moniters you have connnected to your computer. you can find these setings in the nvidia control pannel hope this info helps you.

Thanks for the model of your graphics card. I use two Geforce FX5200 right now to drive my four monitors.
Oh and if you want a nice program to control your monitors take a look at UltraMon program at www.ultramon.com
Its only around $35 and it does many thinks for multi monitor setups I have found.
Looks like I will have to upgrade my mother board. I wish they made more slots like the older motherboards use to have.

Where did you get your motherboard and graphics cards? I buy some things from geeks.com
I know there alot of nice cards out there now. I have found that on the UltraMon site they suggest you use
the same two cards when doing multi monitor setups. Thats why I went with two of the same Geforce FX5200 at the time.
They have been doing well for my ham radio stuff and for graphics and video editing I do some times on the system.
I have another system that is the same mother board and graphics cards for another ham radio station for working satillites.
my station is at http://www.hamradioclassifieds.com/kz4usa.html

Can you run the Phoenix Sim in the High detail mode? Is anyone running the Phoenix in the high detail mode and which card are
you using to do it. I might be able to run in the high detail mode if I just upgrade to a 512 AGP. I have 256 AGP and PCI installed now Geforce 5200FX.
But I might need the power of the PCI express slots.

Im using the Pheonix and Aerofly. I have them both. I bought them a few days back. Yes that medium pictures is what I see and the plane
move smooth and the reflections off the wing look good. I just can't go into the next level to the high detail mode. Im not sure what bit rate they are going
into on the high detail mode. I guess it might be 32bit color. The medium looks great and could just use that Im sure. There might not be that much
diffrence from medium to high. Wonder if the eye can even see the diffrence.
No one around here near me is using these highend sim's or could run them so I haven't been able to see what the high detail mode looks like.
I use 21" Sony trinitron CRT monitors here. I also have a 27" SVHS I might hook up I use to look at computer animations I mess with sometimes.
Its amazing how good these FX5200 do with 256meg video ram. Ive had ATI cards in the past

Ok thanks for the info. Thats is good to know if I have to upgrade my graphics card. Does it come in AGP or PCI or PCI express?
I only have in this machine Standard PCI and AGP 4x and 8x. I would have to get a AGP card looks like.
Looks like they do make a AGP version.

It's AMD XPM2500 clocked to run at about 3000 speed (forgotten what the clock setting is at exactly). So that's in the neighborhood of a pentium 3Ghz
The system RAM is 512 MB (I should add that the OS is Win2000).
Never had a performance issue with Phoenix. The hardware seems to be more than adequate for it. Currently I'm running v2.0 and it runs as well as the earlier version.

Is there a P4 asus motherboard with pci express slots so I could still use my P4 and my DDR memory and just upgrade
my graphics card to a fast PCI express card like a 9600GT.
