'Hi,
My RF 4.5 just quits when starting up. Gets the message that "an unexpected error has occured". Then the pc jumps back to windows.
have tried to reinstall, do upgrades on web and to calibrate controller. Nothing works.
Any suggestions ?

I'm having the same problem with 4.5
Windows 7 64bit
Radeon 9500
4gigs ram
Intel I5 quad core
Worked fine until I added a custom airplane and saved it to C:\Program Files\RealFlightG4\Data instead of the correct directory of C:\Program Files (x86)\RealFlightG4\Data. Once I realised my mistake I moved the file. Hasn't worked since. I have uninstalled realflight and reinstalled with no luck.

The dump will list the program code error and the modules that were involved just before the dump occurred.

Did you use the built in file installer ( as you should have ) in which case the file should have ended up in the right place.
If not, then it is likely there are references now to the wrong folder.
Uninstall G4 & reboot.
Log in as an administrator and turn on viewing of hidden files and folders.
Remove any and all Realflight related folders in appdata and other hidden folders.
Also delete any realflight folders in your user home directory.
Log in as yourself and re-install.

Thanks for replying to our issues opjose.
Here is what I have done so far.
Logged in as admin.
uninstalled realflight
searched pc for realflight and deleted all folders and files related.
opened regedit and did a search for realflight. Deleted all enteries for realflight.
Then reinstalled realflight 4 and still get the same error when starting real flight. It happens after the laucher when I click "run realflight"I upgraded to 4.5 with no luck.
I also tried launching from the realflight.exe
Only thing left to do is uninstall and reboot before reinstalling? Will try that.
Edit: I extracted using the selfextractor that came with the file.I entered C:\Program Files\RealFlightG4\Data into the extractor and then the extractor created the directory path for me.Then once I realised the correct way was to import the file not extract, I went to run realflight to access the import and thats when I got the error. After this I noticed that realflight was acually installed under C:\Program Files x86\RealFlightG4\Data. So I deleted the path created by the extractor and on goes the battle ever since.

My Feedback: (41)
Not a computer guru but I'll offer this; I've only had a similar issue with Norton upgrades and RealFlight. It sounds like you've run the possibilities I would have run by going through the computer and the registry looking for orphan files after the un-install. From past experience, I'd say you have to do a reboot after all that and before attempting to re-install the program. The only other thing I do is to run a Norton Utility I have which will identify bad registry entries.
Have you tried calling the KnifeEdge guys?

Some registry changes do not take effect nor are saved until the computer is rebooted.
It is always a good idea to restart before re-installing, after making extensive changes.
That said
rc300xs
You'll get more help in the KnifeEdge forums....
