Default G2 Problem

I am getting back into the hobby after about a 5 year layoff, so I dusted off my G2 CD and installed it on my computer w/ XP on it. The program was installed on my old computer that crashed and was replaced by the new one. After I load it, I try to "Run Realflight" on the box that pops up and it wont open up the program It looks like it just freezes after the loading box pops up. I tried to log on to the help server, but this program is no longer supported by the manufacturer and the server has been shut down. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi Byrdman,

Hopefully your new computer is up to the challenge..

I tried to PM you with some files that might help, but I could not attach them to a RCU email. Can you PM me with your direct email address and I'll send them along? I have two files - one is small and one is about 7MB.

It's pretty hard to get older software to run on newer systems. I've got a stack of boxes beside the desk (and the stack is taller than the desk) of software that won't run worth using, if at all, on my newest pc's. It's how the software industry keeps themselves employed. It also works that same way in the business world. I made a career of developing applications and upgrading them. There was only slightly more backward compatibility in business systems.

However........

XT offers you the possibility to run older applications in "older pc" modes. You might look into running G2 that way. I don't remember how to do it, but I'm sure someone will fill that in for us.
