I was going to purchase a RealFlight Simulator for my PC which is only a year old but a basic machine.
I was not sure if my graphics would handle it so I called technical support at Great Planes and it will not.
The recommended card would cost me at least $50-100 depending on new or used which needless to say adds costs to the price of the simulator.
Check your computer before you buy. Most companies will not take opened software back.
I am certainly glad that I checked beforeI bought!

I have a 530 Dell which is rather basic.
The processor and all were fine, it was the integrated graphics media card that killed me.
My computer has a GMA 3100 rated at 286 MB of graphics memory, system vid memory of 128 MB and a shared system memory of 158 MB.
According to RealFlight, G5 would not run very well on this graphics setup. I have to take their word for it.

At least they told you it wouldn't work well. If you went by the specs on the box and advertising you would have bought it and been very unhappy. I have been complaining to RF/KE for years about their misleading hardware requirements. Alas to no avail. Glad you got a correct answer from them. G4/4.5/5 have problems with lots of hardware, video cards being the biggest problem.
Realflight requires a high end gaming computer to work and look decent. BTDT [:@]

And that is exactly what the guy told me at tech support, his terms exactly.
It's nice to know there is an honest company or two out there.

It is nice to know that Great Planes is being honest about the products they sell.
Can't say the same for all their suppliers and subsidiaries though.
I will remember to pass this on, "Contact Great Planes directly".
Thanks.

And it's really nice to know that someone answers the phones today without having to wade through endless menus on their phone systems!
