Go to the download pages for the Real Flight sim and you'll have taken your first step

Download what you want.

Launch RealFlight

Click on the "simulation" menu in the upper left.
Choose "import"
point the software to the download

The software will work it into your install.

I agree. However, be careful. Alot of the planes you import are base on other planes the are "ASSUMED" to be already on your system. If you already have these plane (usally from expansion packs/add-ons) thenyour OK. Otherwise, the planes will fail when you try and load them.

To deal with that, look at each download before choosing. In the details about the download, about the middle of the list, there is a line that tells if there is a required predecessor.

OK, I went to the site and got hold of a Showtime 4D 90 gfx file. What I want to know is, does the real Showtime handle exactly like it? Am planning to pick up a Showtime 50 soon and therefore want to know

Do I know if the sim Showtime handles exactly like a real Showtime in the real world? Nope. Don't have a Showtime.

What I have found is that the couple of models I have that are simulated varied how the sim captured their essence. It turned out that...............

When I first judged the Sim, I wasn't flying with wind on for one thing. For another, the model never had been truly sorted out. I hadn't even run a props test session. It had flown ok and hadn't gotten more than a few clicks of trim. When I noticed it on the sim and flew that one the first impression was the sim wasn't realistic because the sim model was way too good. Then it dawned on me. The sim models are representations of very well sorted airplanes that are marketed (important concept, that "marketed" term) by the same business interests that markets the sim. There is a very strong probability they are going to thoroughly work over the virtual model to make sure it represents a well sorted model airplane. So.........

I did some trimming at the field next time out. Dive test showed the CG was too far forward and I started from there. The sucker wound up getting a makeover and turned out it flew worlds better after getting a better prop, different throws, the battery moved aft the wing and a servo replaced. (Turns out I'd worn out one servo over the year of flying that model had done.) Turns out the model wound up flying really good.

After I modified the sim fields I use most often to have more realistic conditions, the virtual model seemed to fly like my real world model.

I learned something about sims with that one model. I'd suggest there is a chance not everybody is flying real models that are well sorted. That certainly affects this judgement significantly.

Modelers have quite a forest to find their way through. They've gotta be good at building (or assembling), adjusting and flying... the whole package, before they'll actually know how good their models are. And in this situation, will also have to be computer literate. And decent at gaming.

That sounds like a "May be, May not be".

As before, I think I will need to but the Showtime50 based purely on its reputation and reviews on the two RC sites

Da Rock,

Have you seen flying or flown the Showtime50? I really need a fun-to-fly airplane, how is this one?
