G3 Photofields

I want to make some Photofields but so far my results are pretty bad. I have used 4 different Pano makers and the file looks usable. When they get imported into G3 they end up stetched tall and curved and way too big. I have tried sizing to what other files I have down loaded worked at but that doesn't work for me. Can anyone give me a capture and final size that may be the answer or am I missing something?

If no one else answers, I'll venture a guess. Don't have G3 myself, so this is just a stab in the dark.

I'm curious about what size file you're using. I'm wondering if you took a photo at a higher resolution (i.e., a larger file size), would that make a difference?

Just for the fun of it, take photos of the same item (even in your back yard) at different resolutions and try loading each of them.

I just found this post in this same Forum. If you haven't seen it before, post #4 might be of interest to you

Hope that this helps.

I've tried sizes from 2 Mega Pixel to 8 Mega Pixel all look bad in a different way! There is something simple I expect that I just don't know.

'Ghost,

See my post in response to your Knife Edge thread on this same topic... The file type must be an equirectangular (spherical) panorama on the order of 8192x4096 or larger. Typically this will involve a stitch of quite a few images in several rows or fewer images shot with very wide angle fisheye lens...

Do some reading of previous posts on this topic, much info is available...

Perhaps you are onto what I have been missing (spherical)! I remimber on of the programs I tried having a setting for that. I have been making "Cylinder" type Pano's. They look good but not when imported into G3!

Yep, that's the problem then. Cylider panos are meant for printing, and they do look good. Spherical panos are what you want for G3.

OO, thank you and Bucko too!
I sure want a pano of my backyard to G3 on! Maybe now I can do it!

Time to celebrate! My first usable but not perfect Photofield! Thanks to all that helped! Now for some 3D in the Backyard Photofield!

Go to Reflex scenery. You may use the import function of G3 after the files have been downloaded and unzipped/uncompressed.
