Real Flight G2 and Windows XP
Is the Great Planes Real Flight G2 simulator compatible with Windows XP?? I purchased it back a few years ago and have not used it since I upgraded my computer to Windows XP, and I wanted to use the simulator again, but I am not sure if it will work with my new operating system.
Thanks, Mike. |

Mine does. You shouldn't have any problems.

I started with the original Real Flight then upgraded to the G2 version. Everything worked great. I run Windows XP and used the parallel interface. I also upgraded my graphics card to a much faster game card with 256k memory on the card with no problems. I have now upgraded to the G3 verison.

Thanks, Ray. I'll give it another try. I gather the trick is to load and update all before running anything.

My neighbor loaded G2 onto his windows XP and downloaded a patch from realflight (he said) to make it work.

RE: Real Flight G2 and Windows XP
I have been running G2 with add-on's 1, 2, and 3 for about 3 or 4 years now on XP Pro with no problems. I did have to use the "special" install start routine to get it to start on the install. Other than that, no problems.
I also got the gameport to USB converter from RadioShack ($6.97). I use the #2 setting on the converter and it works like a champ ! CJ |
RE: Real Flight G2 and Windows XP
What's the "special" install routine? I saw that I needed to manually install some drivers, but what else is involved? Thanks for the tip on the gameport adapter. Now I can run it on my new wide-screen, high-res laptop. :D
