RE: Looking for a flight simulator
ORIGINAL: wltcol60 I agree with you on the quality issue. I'm a disabled vet so I don't have much cash to play with. Yeah, I'd like to be able to spend several hundred on a heli and another few hundred on sims and CNC parts. However, I think my wife would kill me or at least be a little miffed, so I go the economical route. It may not be smart but I'm still breathing! I have since been able to get back to the hobby shop and play with the Real Flight. It is very, very good! But still too pricey for me! I am going to find what best suits my situation before I dive in, who knows mybe it will be the Real Flight? |
RE: Looking for a flight simulator
Thanks, I'll check that out. I like the Real Flight sims and backgrounds compared to the FMS freeware. Real Flight is a bit more realistic also. ClearView sounds like it deserves a look. Thanks again.

RE: Looking for a flight simulator
I just got esky. I know its cheap and no were near the others but it will work for me. I haven't flown in 20 yrs and it sure is nice to be able to brush up on flying. it sure has been fun. it is kindive low tech but its giving me the confidence to fly while i am building my plane and when its done I should be good and ready to fly it

RE: Looking for a flight simulator
Just thought I'd memtion that there's a video of the Phoenix available on their website now:
http://www.phoenix-sim-files.com/fil..._demoVideo.mpg It's pretty large, but good quality! |
RE: Looking for a flight simulator
The ESky sim set up looks like it will work too. I don't think an expensive sim is going to really be that big of a thing. I haven't gone to the Phoenix site yet, still fooling with my friends Dynam USB. It's a lot easier to fly a sim than the real item. I think a big part of my problem is that I don't know how to set up my heli. My main rotor isn't tracking like I have some of the push rods adjusted incorrectly. Well, I'll keep fiddling with it.

RE: Looking for a flight simulator
I know you asked for cheap but this one [link]http://www.modelrectifier.com/rc-products/flight-simulators.asp[/link] imo is even better then the G3.5. If you look around you can find it used, but it is hard to come by.

RE: Looking for a flight simulator
Thanks, I'll check that out. I've seen some I really like but they are expensive! FMS is priced right, FREE, but is light years behind G3 and others.

If you are interested in it drop me an E-mail. |
RE: Looking for a flight simulator
I've seen good deals on ebay on FS One (which I love and would higly recommend) for good prices. Realistically, you're buying a bunch of CD's so as long as it installs and works, you don't care if it's used or new. : )

RE: Looking for a flight simulator
Guys,
If I was considering buying an expensive sim, I woud surely download FMS and try it out in the meantime. I find this sim to be a great practice tool for keeping current. I've flown Realflight and like it ok, but FMS has them all beat on the number of models available for download. The flight dynamics are more than one needs for practicing takeoffs, landings, and almost all levels of acro. It will not simulate single engine failure on a multi-engine model though. You can fly with your own transmitter,a cable does cost 35-50 bucks usually. You can also fly with a 10-15 dollar PlayStation II controller. I've been using this sim for 6-7 years (I always use the most current version) because I enjoy it. I am putting the finishing touches on my first FMS model (Blanik L-13 sailplane) and hope to have it available for download on one of the free sites soon. Give it a try! Scott Scott |
RE: Looking for a flight simulator
ORIGINAL: kofi1013 Hello folks, Im a beginner and after crashing several RTF planes, I decided to invest in a flight simulator Real Flight for 200 bucks. I must say this program simulates many different types of planes, helis, wind and terrain. I now see programs advertisted for $19. Is the Real Flight sim that much better? But my point is......$200 for a flight sim is money well spent!!!!!!!!!! At least you can "fly" when you need too and practice so that your next trip to the field will be one you will like. Not one that you have to salvage all the parts and start over. |
